Years back when I was about 12 years old, I came back from school only to find the house empty, my dad left with step mother. I waited but he never shown up. For 3 years my dad never knew how I survived neither did I know of his whereabout. We later reunited and I never got to understand why he left me all by myself in a big city with no one to take care of, I was just seeking refuge from neighbors and friends FOR 3 YEARS!. I didn't have a mum, she died when I was two. I've never gotten the courage to ask why he did that, it still hurts but I decided to ignore and live with it inside me. I'm 24 now🙂. This song really brought back the memories😢

And here I thought it was about a lost love. As a girl (63 now) whose Dad went to get some ice cream during my 11th birthday party and never came back for weeks, I'm a ball of tears. No child should be left by a parent. Ever. Oh and I love love love the song and all of your work Cian. Keep singing and I'll keep downloading on Apple. Happily!

My own dad once told me he came home from college to an empty house and his own car having been sold by his mom and stepfather. He now owns two businesses and despite what they did he's helped them out numerous times. He's an amazing man and an amazing father. I'm proud to be his daughter.

My dad wasn’t around very often growing up. My parents marriage was very broken, my dad cheated and then one day my mom decided it was best that he left. The “if you ever wanna bet on us, I’ll be waiting” hit hard. Because I thought if he really loved us, he would do something to fix how he’d messed up. BUT my story ends differently than most in this comment section. One night, he was driving his truck and felt so broken and hopeless because he had lost us. And he turned on Christian worship music and the presence of God came all over him and he could FEEL GOD and he began bawling his eyes out and singing as loud as he could to Jesus!! He said “Okay, God, I’m gonna give you every part of my life.” And, you guys, he was a completely different person after that!!! After a lot of counselling and healing, my parents renewed their vows and God put my broken family back together. I deeply understand “I’ll be waiting.” But “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. ” Psalm 34:18 Let that bring you hope, if you’re still waiting

I'm obsessed with this song. But I initially interpreted it as a love song. As someone who was abandoned by her father 40 years ago at the age of 10, this video hit hard.

As someone who was abandoned by his father this song hurts. I looked at it as a learning tool I did the opposite of everything he did and I am a great dad to my kids. It’s the loser dads that abandon their responsibilities of being a dad that will regret missing out on their kids lives

This song can be taken for any type of heartbreak. It takes a great composer to make a song that applies to everyone who has ever walked this earth. Cian is an amazing talent and I feel blessed to be able to have partakes in his life through his music. Keep composing my friend, the world needs your voice.

It's been 8 years since I've spoken to my parents and it hurts every day, this is the only place I've ever admitted how much it hurts me! The people sharing harder stuff then what I have going on has made feel I could share this with you all! Never give up!

A word of encouragement for anyone who has been abandoned by a parent; my Dad left when I was 6 years old. After 15 years of hurt, disappointment and let downs, my Dad and I slowly started to repair our relationship. Now, 12 years further on, we grow closer with every year that passes. Our relationship is far from perfect but I’ve experienced more healing and redemption in our relationship than I ever thought was possible. Keep holding on. Sometimes they do make it back to us.

This hit close to home. My dad wasn't around growing up and all I had was my mom and my brother. So many unanswered questions about why he wasn't there and wondering what I did but my brother was always there to make me laugh and be the role model. This song brought something out of me that I didn't even know was still there. Beautiful song.
