EVERY time i see one of these hbo boxing specials i can remember watching these with my dad when i was younger. When boxing was real. These hbo specials were awesome. Brings back great memories for me. Even today i think they are a great show

Tyson at his prime! After that fight he broke with Rooney, Cayton and Jacobs and went with Don King. Everything went upside down.
-
Huge respect to Spinks for getting in the ring. That goes for all of Tyson's opponents. I cannot imagine dealing with that kind of paralyzing fear.
-
Welp, at least he woke up to 13 Million Dollars LOL
-
that was the fastest 3 hours fight i've ever seen in my life..........
-
Spinks during the ring walk said “You know I got em” then proceeded to put his head down knowing he don’t really feel that way lol
-
The fear in Spinks body language said it all.
-
I remember having a dream about fighting Mike Tyson and I woke up with a black eye
-
I’ll never forget , I went to refrigerator to grab a coke( it was only a few feet )opened the door and the fight was over!!!
-
Mike Tyson has the COLDEST entrance on record EVER. LOL!

This is great to watch this whole story being told. Mike Tyson was a beast, he was at his peak at dis point. People forget he was a young kid and got corrupted by so many people. Had he stayed w/ Kevin Rooney, he would’ve remained undefeated.

Thanks for the upload. There is a story that went around that time about why Spinks was terrified. Spinks was nervous before the fight, even during the press-conferences but, Spinks manager, Butch Lewis, had upset Tyson over his wraps and gloves to the point Tyson punched a wall and Spinks heard it. They said it took a lot of people to get Spinks to come out to the ring, he was so scared. Good thing the match only lasted one round lol

I remember, back then they thought Spinks actually had a good chance of beating Tyson... That's why they hyped this so much.
-
Look at Don King SLITHERING his way over to Mike. What a snake in the grass.
-
3 hours 13 minutes and 42 seconds for a 91 second fight :)
-
Buffer's introduction of Ali is one of my favorites of his.
-
Michael, what day is it? Chocolate Ripple.
-
Holmes was spot on with his analysis.

This fight paved the way for all big fights in the future.. The weigh in’s were often a low key affair.. Tyson made the sport what it is today. We were all blessed when fights like this featuring Mike Tyson were happening. It’s the only thing I’m glad I was born in the 1970’s to be able to watch Mike Tyson live many, many times. Feel sorry for those born too late!

This is like a time capsule to 1988 watching this live.
