Learn Persian / Farsi: 1 - How to Greet People and Ask How They're Doing (Conversational Lesson)

Published 2018-03-26
Lesson guide available at: www.chaiandconversation.com/speak-persian/how-gree…

Learn how to greet people and ask how they're doing, in Persian! You will also learn how to answer back when asked how you're doing.

The first thing you learn when learning any language is how to say hello.

In Persian, 'hello' is “Salam.”

And, 'how are you' is “chetor-ee.”

I would like to note here that in Persian, as in French, Spanish and many other languages, there is an informal and formal way of speaking. Formal is used only when speaking to people you don’t know very well, or people who are older than you. Because we’re trying to learn conversational and casual speaking, for today we’re going to be using informal speech.

The lesson follows lesson 1 of Chai and Conversation- check out the free podcast and all the supplemental learning materials on the website.

I am dating a Persian guy and I was staying at his house for a week. his parents a that I did was definitely more stronger in Farsi, I kept hassling him to teach me the language but he would not he would not even tell me something that I did was disrespectful after I did:< one afternoon he taught me how to say good morning. after a few days of perfecting it I finally felt confident enough to try. I was so nervous but once the words came out of my mouth, his parents looked so happy. so now i am determined to learn:> thank you<3
