‘People have had a gutful’: Olympic Village’s vegan-heavy menu criticised

Published 2024-07-29
Nationals Senator Matt Canavan has criticised organisers of the Paris Olympics over the vegan-heavy menu in order to reduce the carbon footprint of each dish.

“Obviously, you’d have to be stupid to think you could save the planet in a two-week event,” he told Sky News Australia.

“It’s not going to save the planet by cutting meat out of athletes’ diet for a couple of weeks but it’s all about appearances for the Olympics organising committee obviously, and people, I think, have had a gutful of that.”

Can the Olympics just focus 100% on sports and leave politics to the sidelines

No air conditioning, no meat, broken elevators, are they green or just broke?

The audacity of the IOC talking about wastefulness when they con cities to use taxpayer funds to build extravagant sports complexes that get used once and then forgotten about to deteriorate.

What a joke! France missed their opportunity for redemption. This is their demise.

I really didn’t think the Olympics could be more lame Well, I was wrong about that.

Is it time we cut the Olympics forever. Only the richest & most privileged young people with sponsorships, training & "backing" get to participate. It's all an expensive waste of nonsense. Nobody needs an athlete to survive.

The big girl at the last supper ate all the good food already

No food, no real beds, no AC? I wonder if the French athletes are subject to the same conditions?
  • @Gulicktheemu
The Olympics should never be allowed to return to France. No wonder everything they poupon is grey,

The people boycotting is part of their plan. No countries, no competition, one w o r l d… I hope athletes and spectators refuse to attend the closing ceremonies! Empty stands would be golden!
  • Sad. I remember a time when the Olympics was something we all looked forward to - to the extent we'd re-arrange our schedules during the event to try and take in as much as possible. Work would stop during major events where Australians were competing. Nowadays it is something to avoid - a victim of the woke socialist mind virus that is devouring the modern world. First it was politics, then the education system, then the mindless activists took it into the streets....and then of course it ruined sport.
