An amplified, overdrive, feedback, power chord story told with sound, but very few words. Most people don't have the patience to sit and listen to stories of this kind. They do not understand stillness, and they are always in a hurry for ? Thank You Mr. Gibson, and Mr. Fender, and Mr. Vox, and Mr. Marshall. And most of all, Thank You Mr. Young, I'm still listening.
  • This song reminds me of my late wife Mary...She was from Sedalia, Missouri. I remember when I took her to O.C. Maryland the first time in the early 1990's....She was so excited, she had never seen the Ocean...I remember just watching her laying in the sand (she was Stunning, 6 ft tall, pale, dark brunette, quiet as the tomb ).... Shortly after our daughter was born ...my wife Mary died of bone cancer in 2001....I miss you and love you still ......my Cowgirl in the Sand...

I’ve listened to this song for 46 years. Tonight, the moon is close to full and I hear the crickets chirping behind Neil. Never has this song been so beautiful. The homegrown is also sweet. Forever Young.

When I was young we listened endlessly to this in one of my friends room, It must have been 53 years ago. And this friend passed away this year. Goodbye friend. RIP
  • Neil absolutely kills it on this one. Just such masterfully beautiful guitar work, and so uniquely, unmistakably Neil Young. Who the hell else sounds like this? God, I love it!

When people say Neil was a forerunner of grunge, I can definitely hear it in this song.
  • Who's listening 🎶 👀 in 2024? A person can always know when Neil Young is playing because he has a sound all his own. Neil Young is the only musician to be in the Rock n roll Hall Of Fame. He's incredible . I'm 66yrs old now and grew up listening to him.
  • I'm still amazed, not only by the greatness of this song, but that he got to do this and Down By The River on the same album...fantastic
  • I'm transported back 50 years and feel 16 every time I hear this. So grateful for the music we grew up to ~ time just goes by a little too fast. ❤❤❤

I am the graphic designer of the cover. I took this photo a while back with my dog that is now dead, may she rest in peace. Anyway, brings back memories
  • However drugged up Danny may have been, or not, at this time, there is no doubt in my mind that he helped create a very special synchopated tone to this number. This should surely be in the Top 100 all time greatest rock songs .. it's in my top three.

Music is a true time machine. Listen to any song and you drift back to those days. The sixties and seventies were the greatest time to be alive. If I could I would go back, but the music does it for me.

When I was in high school early 70's I wore out my 8track player in my el camino playing Neil Young ....its a point in time that i remember and no matter how hard i try and never will be able to get back to it and it wont be repeated...I consider myself lucky to have been there. Im old now,my wife is dead, life sucks now.....I can listen to this album and forget for awhile how bad the present is and how good I once had it.

This is songwriting at its finest. If you don't appreciate pure unadulterated jamming this is not your song.
  • @kevinrkotara6730
Brilliant, raw, and pure guitar work. An absolute masterpiece of a song. They don’t write them like this anymore. This is collective musical genius and tremendous talent.
  • So glad Neil unbunched his undies and is back on Spotify so a whole new generation can access this masterful tune
  • The way that Neil changes tone and tempo and goes off on riffs is just amazingly creative.
  • the godfather of grunge... the inspiration behind nirvana & pearl jam... hey hey, my my, rock & roll will never die...! long live rock !

One of the best songs ever written. Remember when this came out. Great memories. Easily one of the best guitarists and song writers
