"Why don't they just make a clone, so you can stay here?" I love little kids!!šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ Best of luck in your new career. SLP's are definitely needed.

"You're about to be six? Very good" lmao as a former sub this is such a relatable moment šŸ˜‚ little kids really do just announce unrelated things and that's all you can say lol.

I am a Middle School Special Ed teacher, and I remember when I told my 6th graders that I was changing schools they were sad. One little girl got so upset she was crying. I felt terrible. I know how hard this is. I told them they would be leaving for 7th grade and eventually high school so it was bound to happen. There is a strange and wonderful connection between students and teachers. Every year itā€™s hard to let them goā€¦

I am in awe of your rapport and your flow with the students. You know exactly what you're doing! I am inspired myself and I am excited for wherever life takes you!
  • @andrealevy218
Way to define inspired !! Nice job, but sad for them losing you as a teacher - but we need great SLPs everywhere too !! Look forward to seeing your journey - so many ways it can go!
  • Good job young lady! Twenty-three year vet here. I wish I had half the courage to make the types of career decisions you young people in the field are making. Keep growing!

as a former teacher, I wouldnā€™t not recommend anyone to get into this profession. Students are super disrespectful and we canā€™t say anything back. your mental health and self esteem gets crushed every other day.. Also schools donā€™t give a crap about staff members. They will fire you on the spot for anything!

Damn. I donā€™t cry at all, but hearing those kids go from ā€˜oh sheā€™s leaving!ā€™šŸ˜€ to ā€˜oh, sheā€™s leavingā€™ šŸ¤” to oh, sheā€™s leaving šŸ„ŗšŸ˜¢ broke me. I am a grown man who has gone through some things and teaches high schoolers who think nothing of cursing me out. But this made me cry. I donā€™t think I would have the strength to do what you did. I wish you the best in your education, and I wish your kids the best in theirs.
  • Congratulations on following your dreams even if it means some sadness at the start of your new path. Your loving positive impact on your students will always remain in their little hearts and minds. I left teaching after 24 years. Iā€™m now trying to find my new passion. I miss my students but I donā€™t miss the politics that stunt growth.
  • What a sweet meeting with your students! I moved districts after 10 years and I know how hard it is to say goodbye! Best of luck in the future!

Not you about to make me cry while while telling your kiddos that youā€™re leaving šŸ„¹ good luck on your new journey as a SLP šŸ„³šŸ’•

To those being unkind to this young woman. She is doing what is right for her and she has told the children she is leaving in the kindest most empathetic way she could. I do not know how it works in the US but here in the UK reception kids often have teaching assistants as well as the teacher, thus the children will still have a level of continuity and the majority of the children will move on with nothing but fond memories of ā€œmissā€. How do I know this? I trained as a SEN (special education needs) teaching assistant in 2007 and my classroom placements were in reception and key stage one. To Nichole em. I hope your further education goes as planned and I am sure you will do well, I found your communication skills with this age group beyond impressive.šŸ˜Š
  • I taught prek for years and years and I loved how every day my lil students would amaze me. There were no ā€˜bad kidsā€™ in my classroom, and I see that same approach in your classroom. I know that setting the stage so that children can listen and also express themselves takes such skill. Maybe it isnā€™t brain surgery, but not everyone can do what you do. You, maā€™am are a hero without a cape, as far as Iā€™m concerned, I wish you so well on your continued journey in growing your brain, and may we all continue to learn and grow

We come to school to get hand sanitizer šŸ˜‚ this is why I want to be a teacher.

I am so proud and excited for you in the way you handled this situation but my heart breaks for the kids because they love you so much! God bless you all.
  • Nice way to break the news. I did something similar but all my first graders got very upset even though Iā€™d be missing only one marking quarter and was definitely returning to them. They had a hard time conceptualizing a school where the teachers were students! In pre-internet days, I showed them by bring a university yearbook that had pictures of different classes. Then we had ā€œletā€™s go to university lessons,ā€ a role play for parts of lessons. It was interesting to see their perceptions of grad. school!

I know they're sad, because this broke my heart. Kids looooooooove their teachers, especially ones that show them love while teaching them. I would try everything in the world to not leave until the end of the school year, if I find myself having to leave, but I understand sometimes that just won't work. I wish her the best in her next chapter.
