Your backstory re early onset of depression, multiple med trials and multiple hospitalizations is one I relate to. I was in a Ketamine trial which was not effective for me. I'm now scheduled for ECT and understandably anxious. Watching your video was enormously helpful. Thank you!

WOW. You're looking even more beautiful than ever, your hair and makeup look like a work of art, I would give you all my money for that top and the sweat is making you GLOW girl LOL. I'm so delighted to see you're doing much better, I hope your good memories will come back but nothing wrong with enjoying the moment❤I'd love to research why this works (for some people and not for others). There's so much more to learn about the brain. For Q&A: do you have any tattoos related to mental health/recovery/ECT or are you planning on getting one? :-) much love xoxo

I also had amazing results from ECT’s. They saved my life. My experiences were very similar to yours. I want to thank you for your bravery in sharing your story! (And I hate the beach ball smelling mask haha!)

I'm glad for you. I had clinical depression but fortunately meds worked for me. My mother had ECT numerous times when I was growing up and it was very sad when she didn't initially remember major things about her own children. But as you said eventually those memories returned and overall it helped her. This was at the time when not many effective meds for depression were available, so ECT was more commonly done- and not as well controlled as it is today.

I hope my comment doesnt sound out of place, but youre the fastest knitter Ive ever seen. Are you a left-handed flicker?

I only did 4 ECT treatments so far and I feel terrible, I'm praying that I get some relief further on into treatments. I'm just so defeated 😢

I lost 40 years of memories after doing ECT. I've been diagnosed with major neuro cognitive disorder. Am on an Alheimers med (I'm 44). I have vision issues, executive functiong issues, short tem and working memory issues. On top of the retrograde amnesia. I have spent years in speech therapy. All of my doctors and therapists have patients who did ECT and also have serious cognitive impairment. Oh and I almost died when I had a cardiac event. It didn’t help my mental health issues. There is a huge risk involved.
  • Can ECT help with hypersomnia aka excessive sleeping? That’s a major component of my depression. Although I suffered with it long before my depression started it’s gotten way worse now I’m depressed. Some days I can’t even get out of bed I’m so sleepy.

Im propably going to get ECT, and two things im scared is if i get nausea when i wake up, because i have emetophobia. And memory loss is another. But if it works its worth it i think. Nausea i scare the most. Any advice? 😅 Can you get medicine for nausea if that happens?

What is your maintenance schedule? Does it increase side effects?
  • @sueyildiz5351
Hello how many treatments did you have ? My psychiatrist wants me to have ect and I’m so scared from all the things I’ve watched I’m terrified but I’m desperate for relief.
  • Hi thanks for sharing the vid I was wondering did you get bilateral or unilateral ECT?
  • @Za86m
I spoke to a ECT doctor this morning about potentially starting in the next two weeks and I'm scared about the potential memory effects. Ketamine and a bunch of meds didn't do it for me, so I'm paranoid I'm going to be the one something bad happens to. He said people with my medical/psych history tend to respond really well, but yeah, still scared lol
