Hall of Famer on the field. Hall of Famer on the bench. Nuts.
-
Never realized how great Young was as a mental athlete. Guys nowadays demand trades so that they can play. This man stayed, and dedicated himself to his teammates and organization. Some weak minded athletes don’t want to follow after an icon, at the time the GOAT at QB, and he did. Pure testament to his character

That Montana pass to Rice against the Eagles has to be one of the most beautiful passes I’ve ever seen.
-
I want to watch the whole thing! That 20 year run by the 49ers spoiled me and probably ruined me for life. I thought it would never end... how wrong I was. I miss those days.
-
How can you not root for both of these great players? Even if you hated the 49ers, you gotta love the greatness.
-
Montana to Rice. The three sweetest words in the English language.
-
Walsh and Parcels were great at creating "controlled" controversies to elevate the players performance.
-
"Bill was thinkin 'I'm gonna get the best out Steve young and Joe Montana out of this'" that's so friggin smart

I'm in my forties now and I get chills every time I see these images and remember that era when the niners were unrivaled... I truly believed they were going to play at that level forever. Since then they only have shown bits and pieces of what a great time can accomplish. They spoiled all of us 49ers fans....I miss those days! Let this be a warning for Patriots fans, enjoy it while it last; you guys might not see any more glory days from your team in the coming years....

Keep in mind that Steve has ALWAYS, ALWAYS been SO generous and SO gracious about Joe and their "relationship." If you never heard any other story from anyone else, just from listening to Steve you'd think they were more friends than rivals.

the best left armed qb in the nfl.

I'm a Raider fan but love Steve, since I'm a 90s kid. Watching him just brings me so much nostalgia from when I was a kid. I met him at a gas station in Millbrae. It was around midnight and he looked tired but I just had to talk to him. He was 100% down to earth with an infectious smile. I actually worry about him because he had one too many concussions. He kinda spaces out when he's on tv.

Steve: highly gifted athleticism and intense drive. Joe: cool, confidence- inspiring leadership with great field vision and patience, with some above average mobility of his own

Bill Walsh's bluntness combined with football genius made him a legend. I love how real he was: "Yeah, we have a quarterback controversy." "Steve Young is a frustrating player...but he made the play to win us the game." He was also willing to pull Joe Montana out of any game when Joe wasn't cutting it.
-
Him watching and playing under Joe, and what he learned from Walsh was a big part of him becoming a great QB. He was a talented, but erratic QB with the Buccaneers. By the time he became a full time starter he was ready and at times was bordering on perfect in his prime with the 49ers.
-
The way Joe could drop that ball in Jerry's hands without Jerry slowing down was the most awesome thing to watch. That's what made me a 49'ers fan
-
Both were class guys and could start for anyone.
-
Two very gifted and amazing quarterbacks .
-
Steve might be ranked behind Joe, but in my mind not far behind. He was an amazing QB in his own right.

Two all time Pimps! Thanks guys foe priceless Bay Area memories back when San Francisco was its best
