4 days on a cruise, and i had MDDS for 2 months and it was INSANELY severe. I was falling over, couldn’t put my makeup on without smearing it across my face, had to hold on to things as i walked around my house. I was laughed at and even accused of faking or exaggerating it. I used the visual physical therapy to help my symptoms and eventually, it subsided.
  • I currently have this from being on a cruise then taking a long flight home to california from Italy. Luckily in San Diego I found Chiropractic Neurologists that can help me through Optikinetic exercises. I have only seen the doctor one time since my initial testing and already and functioning better. I hope this can help others
  • For anyone reading this, i got it for 2 weeks after using the elevator. It stopped at the wrong floor and i anxiously hurried out and got back in, which I presume, caused the imbalance I endured for a good few painful days. I would have really bad anxiety attacks, which worsened the rocking and swaying motion. But, it soon went away by the end of 2 weeks and I am very thankful for it. Try to be patient, walk 10 mins twice daily, practice some vestibular exercises and you should be good.

Physical therapy does not work for this syndrome. Medication and symptom management can help and hopefully trigger remission. SNRI’s like Effexor are usually prescribed as well as long acting Benzodiazepines which suppress the central nervous system like Ativan. Dr. Shin Beh in Frisco, TX is one of the only neurologists in the country to specialize in treating this. I hope this information might help someone watching this that might be suffering from MdDS.

I am three and a half years with this from a plane ride. I went to Mount Sinai and gyrostim without any luck.

I've had this swaying feeling for 5 days now after getting off a 4 day cruise last week. I wonder if the wrist bands with acupressure beads will help. I'll try them tonight as I sleep.

I have MDDS triggered by a cruise 2 years ago. I want to know if she was able to go on another cruise. If so, did it help?

I had this after the last 2 cruises i went on. I went to a chiropractor and they fixed it after 2 weeks. I’m so scared I will get it again. I am going on another cruise in a month.
