  • love how Johnny Cash called Mother Maybelle "..and my fishing buddy.."
  • Folks this is the mother of country music RIP Mrs. Carter
  • Maybelle's my third cousin, once removed, not that y'all care, but from someone who knew her, you did her justice. God bless.
  • Mother Maybelle and June are my pilots! If you play guitar and have not learned to play "The Wildwood Flower", you have at least one more pleasurable task in life! It's not a difficult piece of picking. Alas, the lyrics always escape, but it is one song that MUST be sung by a woman. I tried to rewrite the lyric for a male but failed miserably. After many years, I found a woman who could and would sing it on stage, while I played the guitar. It was wonderful. I was smiling like a fool through the entire song. I always wanted to play The Wildwood Flower for a live audience. When I finally did this, I felt I could die happy. God Bless The Carter Family!
  • This video is a national treasure. I hope that the future generations would be able to watch it. Its a part of the US musical history.
  • Mother Maybelle gifted my mother a pair of her earrings back when my mother had a television show in Cincinnati. She said Mother Maybelle was the most genuinely sweet woman she'd ever met, and my mother was not afraid to criticize people, so Ms. Carter must have been a top-notch person.

I’m so glad to be living in an age when things like this can be preserved and shared, so we can learn and enjoy our musical heritage.
  • I love how they smile at each other when one sings, there so proud of the other instead of themselves.
  • I love it when the two things I love the most, music/the guitar and history merge and we learn about these amazing musicians through these great documentaries!
  • @gophersk
Helen was the best musician in the family.. also loved her voice. ty for sharing
  • My father was born in 1924, there was something special about this generation of people and how they lived their lives. my father told me that most people back then were poor as dirt and didn't have luxuries like cars, most of them were small farmers and when they were not working which was not very often they entertained each other with music, it's one of the only things they had to do. My dad played the fiddle and did it well. They were hard working honest people, they fought in world war two and Korea MD sacrificed so much for this country. people like this is what we need in this country right now.
  • I have always felt Mother Maybelle Carter was gorgeous. He eyes were absolutely striking!
  • Maybelle Carter is such an inspiration for me as a guitarist, she was a great woman and artist
  • Mother Maybelle’s “Carter scratch” Style of playing was such a major innovation. She changed everything. And what wonderful harmony the Carter family had.
  • Every once in a while a person comes along who is very special and influences us deeply without even trying. Maybelle was one of those gifts from whoever the creator of the universe might be.
  • This video made me miss my mother; she loved the Carter family music. I know she is watching this with me tonight as the tears stream down my face....miss you, mom. Rest in peace. xxoo
