  • I'm 62, I ran my first drag race on a real track in 1980 at 21, in a 1963 Nova I built in the back yard. I'm still addicted, and racing a 1964 Fairlane Thunderbolt replica. It will likely be my last race car. But it sure has been a fun past 4 decades.
  • Loved the legendary voices of Keith Jackson and Steve Evans!
  • look at the packed stands .. today when they announce pro chevy stock the few fans in attendance head for the concession stands
  • this was back when Pro Stock was Pro Stock. 1984 to 1996 would be my favorite era of Pro Stock
  • This is the way Pro Stockers should have stayed. Those Dusters looked awesome...
  • I’m 74 and I ran my first race in 67 with a 61 Starliner 390 HyPo. My older brother was running a 63 1/2 427 Galaxie.
  • Pro stock eliminator I love it. Thanks for the mash up of how the class has grown. I’m 27 years old and a drag racer myself but I love the history of the sport especially pro stock.
  • My Vega is in the background 6 minutes and 40 seconds in. The 1973 portion
  • What a great review of the history of Pro Stock racing. I was at school and away from drag racing by 1977, but clearly remember the Pro STOCK cars running low 10s at that time. That's when the rules required fundamentally stock cars. The NHRA classes were incremental, from sponsored Stock classes, to Super Stock with lots of modifications and factory sponsorship, to Pro Stock with major modifications like tunnel rams and such.
  • I honestly get emotional and sentimental for 70’s Pro Stock. The same yearning for those cars is still real. I was extremely fortunate to compete for a couple of years on the West Coast in 72-73. Great time and great cars and especially great friends. I wasn’t a threat but every west coast Hemi team helped me with parts and knowledge.
  • These drivers spent more hours in their shops in one week than most people spend in a lifetime. They always looked tired and for good reason. No half hour interviews at the top end thanking hundreds of sponsors.
  • At 62 I am lucky to say that I have seen it all unroll and enjoyed every year of it. I remember when California had Drag racing tracks in Santa Anna, Pomona, Long Beach, Ontario, Bakersfield, Arcadia. All gone today except Pomona.
  • @Mike583
I'm 68 & these were the glory days of P/S. I'm kinda disappointed they didn't show more of the men that were in it back then! Ronnie Sox,Dyno Don,Iaconio in his Ford, more of the Gapp & Rousch. When P/S became an all Chevy show,I lost complete interest in that class! Hell Ford was very competitive in F/C until they put everything into NASCAR! I sure miss the days when you had the big 3 & even AMC involved!
  • Bad Bob Glidden still my favorite pro stock driver ever. I can't see anything in the newer drivers and cars to change my mind.
  • @NeilLB7
For me Pro-Stock was the 80s and 90's on TV (and a couple visits to the US Nationals). Evans and McClelland on "Diamond P Sports" on the TV, on the weekends. Glidden, Iaconio, Morgan, Johnson, Lepone, Leal, Coonce and so many more. Firebirds, Thunderbirds, Berettas, Cutlass, Camaro, and Daytona bodies everywhere. Good times.
  • Thank you for a fabulous video. I am a 68 year old NHRA guy out of Brooklyn,N.Y. who was there the first year of Pro Stock. This video sure brings back some great memories
