They should've listened to Cavill. Good riddance.
  • @FirstStrikeJAS
the second they got rid of henry they should have used their collective 5 braincells at netflix and realized no one is gonna watch this without him

It's not that we wanted Henry, it's that Henry was the canary in the coal mine. He kept telling them to just keep it to the source material. They refused. It's all we wanted.
  • - Making a serie about a beloved serie of books. Check. - Hiring a writer that hates the source material. Check. - Make nobody read the books and source material. Check. - Fire the passionated people that work on the project. Check. - Still hire writers that have no experiences and hates the source material. Check - Create god aweful ideas and do not following the source material. Check. - Push your political agenda. Check. - Celebrate failure and blame the fans. Check.

Instead of going full polish medieval lore, paired with monster slaying they went full American tumblr tier.
  • @TheToastyy
Expected it when they refused to get rid of incompetent writers; they were actually sitting on a goldmine and just threw it away
  • Bro, they did Eskel and Vesemir so dirty. In the games he was such a great fucking character. Yeah he was a dick some times-- but he always had a proper head on his shoulders. And Vesemir? He was practically Geralt and Ciri's father figure. And they turned him into schizophrenic old man. Wtf Netflix

The funniest thing is that sapkowski wrote strong, compelling and intelligent women beacause he grew up with women picking up the slack as many, many men died in world war 2 and they did a damn good job. But apparently this is not good enough and they need to more like drama teens.

The director of Witcher was off from the start. I cannot understand Netflix always sided with her. She just didn't get Witcher. I think she was trying to make Outlanders.
  • @scubasteve2189
Two things I just can’t understand: 1. You buy an IP because it’s so popular, then hire people who don’t want to do any of the things that made the IP popular. 🤦🏻‍♂️ 2. The people who made the decisions in #1 still keep their jobs and then do it all over again with another IP. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
  • @NikushimiDouble
Sapkowski didn't say he hated the games, he said he never played them because he just doesn't care for video games in general.
  • @antonsundin2974
"Lets buy the tv licensing rights for an ip because it's popular and then change the story and characters." Fucking brilliant.
  • The Yennefer storyline was so hard to watch... - Doesn't get chosen as a mage, so therefore they refuse to give her the operation that makes her infertile but gives looks etc. - Refuses to accept that decision and forces someone to give her said operation, making her infertile - Spends the rest of the show complaining how the mages could do that to her, when we actually saw her doing it to herself with noone pressuring her into it or even wanting her to. How are we supposed to feel any sympathy for her at all with how the show handled her?

Adapting the Witcher novels should’ve been the free-est slam dunk of all time.
  • @GravitasZero
“30 characters that have no business still being in the story” I think we know why they are still here and it’s to check certain boxes if you know what I mean.
  • @JeyesFluid
When even the cast want it to be over...
  • @oRnch199
"Fan" fiction implies they were fans in the first place. They're explicitly against the fans and the lore. They literally said it on camera. Like most of our beloved IP's in the last 5-10 years. The creators actively hate the fan base and or the IP. Coming in wanting to do their own thing while wearing the IP as a skin suit. They actively tell actors to NOT read the source material.

The one thing Yenifer wanted more than any other was a child. She spent decades trying to figure out how to have a child. Then Geralt gives her a daughter, the best gift she has ever been given. In the books its the happiest she has ever been and she will easily die or kill for her daughter. In the show she treats her like garbage and is going to sacrifice her to get her powers back? Its like they had no idea what the books were about.......
  • Sapkowski drama with game and CD project started when his son was dying and he needed money to try to save him. Media presented it like he was some greedy old guy. I kinda understand him, he was desperate and even though he was the one who did not believed in game success and sold rights for let's say not much money. Also he was really angry when his books were published with visuals from game - that's when the meme that his books are based on the game started. Maybe someone will find it interesting.
  • Yeah, little monster missions per ep with a wider background arc that wraps up near the end, the odd fan-fave returning character is all that was required like Mando season 1.
