The Hotel U14 (The name of which is derived from the building's address, Unioninkatu / Unionsgatan 14), which finally opened on 9th March 2020 after having been created inside an old office building from 1968-69 since 2018 (The opening was originally scheduled for February 2020), is the first luxury hotel in the Nordic Countries that is a part of the Autograph Collection Hotels by Marriott, and is a family-owned boutique hotel just like the Hotel F6 (on Fabianinkatu / Fabiansgatan 6) opened in 2016, and very similar in style to the Kämp Group's luxury hotels (Like the newest ones, Hotel Lilla Roberts (2015), Fabian and Haven (2009)). It has 117 rooms in different categories, also Deluxe rooms and Corner Suites, a gym with a sauna, and a high-end restaurant and bar. Other examples of comfortable and luxurious hotels in Helsinki / Helsingfors created inside former old office buildings and others, are the Lapland Hotels Bulevardi, Hotel Indigo Helsinki Boulevard and the upcoming Folks Hotel Konepaja and Scandic Hotel Helsinki Station to be completed during Summer 2020 - January 2021.

The Hotel U14 is located in the very center of Helsinki/Helsingfors in Kaartinkaupunki / Gardesstaden district, right at the heart of the urban life but still in a quiet area, close to the Esplanade Park and Olympic Terminal (Tallink Silja Line), several museums as well as the Restaurant Palace (and former hotel).
The luxury hotel has three brand-new 2019 KONE Design Monospace elevators (At the time of filming on the very first day of the operation of the hotel, two out of three elevators (the two regular ones with design walls) did not require a key card to ride them). The hotel building has a very beautiful rounded staircase that seems to have been preserved from when the building itself dates back (1968-69), but there is no original old elevator apart from the three brand-new ones.
