  • My man was a part time bladesmith, and went toe to toe with someone 15 years ahead of him in practice, screwed up yet still went all the way, absolutely phenomenal
  • @TEPL1
I would love to see them say "Both of you are the Forged in Fire champions." because both of those guys deserved to win!
  • @tapiocamango
Imagine: "There could only be one winner and you two are matched. With that said, you will duel to the death using your Katanas and whoever lives, is the Forge & Fire champion. Keal each other. Good luck."

Two of the best blades and best beards on this show.
  • Give Ben 8 hours and he’ll make a Katana that shoots bullet back in a gun test 🤣
  • @My2Cents.iF7934
Both wore green, both had luscious beards, both forged truly excellent weapons. Good episode.
  • @MrBreakdownBoy
The bullet splitting was so cool! Well done to these guys!
  • @vidright
Both swords were very well forged and were equal in blade quality. But, to be honest, the winner's sword made the better impression visually. However, I don't want to call the two swords "katana" because an original katana has a blade made of multi-folded steel with different properties of each blade component in terms of blade hardness and blade flexibility. It’s nearly impossible to forge such a blade during only five days.
  • If they can make a Katana that well in just 5 days, Just imagined how much better the Katana would be if they have 1 Month to make it.

Rich made an extremely impressive katana w/out a auto hammer or other fancy machines. Forged by hand w/ a simple quench tank & even after his first blade cracked. It cut cleanly, survived pushing through armor, & it's bullet proof! He should not be ashamed of his work. Between his & Matt's sword it had to come down to the finest of details!
  • It's crazy seeing how much this show has grown over the years. This first season feels so different from season eight!
  • That kill test... The katana was generally not used on the battlefield where the enemy was likely to be armored. If anything it was a backup weapon in those conditions, with a spear being the main weapon. Compared to axes and maces for example, swords are inferior against armor but they are more suited for parrying/blocking. That makes swords more versatile weapons and thus a superior choice to carry for self-defense. In other words, an unarmored test dummy would've been more realistic for testing the lethality of a katana.
  • @LordTrayus
Testing the katana's ability to split a bullet. Because we all know the samurai's greatest tactic was in deflecting gunfire with their swords...
  • @jmacadam1426
When it's as close as that, it really needs to be a fight to the death, using your own weapon...
  • @utubepunk
This episode is old, Doug doesn't even say It will KEALLLL.
  • @tacoman107
I miss the seasons where they'd give an explanation for why they didn't win, or what specific/finer details gave the winner their winning edge.
  • Sharpest Katana I have ever seen was one made by Yoshindo Yoshihara. Dropping a tissue on the blade made it split perfectly under it's own weight.
  • An expert katana blacksmith takes about 1 1/2 years to make one, they did it in 5 days. Must be the breads.
