I've built my own 3D city block and tested it for 12 different sized earthquakes! Watch this video and let's see what we can all learn about natural disasters and the Mercalli intensity scale!

Spoiler alert: this might become one of the most viewed video simulations on YouTube :)
-------------------------------
This project took me about 100 hours to finish and I would so appreciate if you could SHARE IT with your friends and family and see what they think! :)

What is the biggest ground shaking intensity you've ever felt? Let me know in the comments below!

I hope these simulations will bring more earthquake awareness around the world and educate the general public about potential earthquake related hazards. Remember that earthquakes can be catastrophic, however climate change is 100x TIMES worse... I do also hope that my videos will inspire a younger generation of architects, engineers and scientists!

Welcome to the world’s largest and only 3D earthquake simulation channel on YouTube! My channel focuses on realistic 3D earthquake simulations of a variety of virtual structures and types of buildings from around the world. Some of my work has been featured by various international media news outlets and it has also been used by other large YouTube channels such as GeologyHub, GeoPop and CaSeismograph for educational purposes. This channel’s content has also been featured on the Curiosity Channel in a recent documentary called “Breakthrough: Forecasting the Big One”.

The simulations that I post serve an educational purpose and should be solely treated as such. We should not forget that earthquakes are real world events that can sometimes lead to loss of properties and lives.

Interesting how the apartment building suffers only a partial collapse with the core of the building remaining mostly intact while all the other structures around it all suffer total collapse.

I like that there was a view of seeing this from the ground. It makes it feel more present when you're up close like that.
  • that was one of the best ones yet! Gonna be watching this one over and over again :) So much to take it its awesome :)

I feel like these videos need a mounted camera in one of the buildings, maybe immune to the shaking, but imagine seeing the building tilt as it collapses.
  • Idk why, but for some reason, when the parking garage collapses almost immediately, it cracks me up. 😅 I think it's because that's one of the last things I'd expect to collapse since they're typically built pretty strong.

I think this is good example of being situation when you're in the city and there's an earthquake and you'll will see what is gonna be happen By the way this is cool keeping up your content 💯👌

Buildings are a collection of Lego blocks. They have connections!!
  • earthquakesim 1960 valdivia earthquake 9.5 magnitude mercalli 12 ground acceleration 2.93 g can you simulate?
  • @jimharris8707
Fascinating as always. Is there variability in the sim or how the ground acceleration happens such that if you ran the same instensity level multiple times that you might get slightly different outcomes?
  • @Crutsz
The building in the distance casually falling to the void
  • saw the parking tower colapse, thinking the Hazmat MESS. the mix of the multitude of cars fluids-[oil, gas, antifreeze, etc.]in the rubble( in real scenario)😬
  • so like when the brown building started tilting the furniture inside just stayed there. It didn't start moving until the building has fully collasped.

The core and shear walls of the apartment were sturdy. Uhm can you a simulation of the 1906 San Francisco city hall and 1989 san francisco city hall damages
  • @bvlgvs
Could you please do a sim with round-shaped floorplan skyscraper?
