MRIs in Multiple Sclerosis Explained

2023-03-24に共有
Dr. Carraro, a neurologist at Piedmont HealthCare Lake Norman Neurology in Charlotte discusses MRIs in Multiple Sclerosis. MRIs are important in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring. They can help to identify classic lesions associated with MS, such as T2 hyperintense lesions, contrast-enhancing lesions, and T1 hypo intensities. Brain atrophy or shrinkage is also a factor that can be observed on an MRI and has a worse prognostic weight. Research into new MRI techniques such as 7 Tesla MRIs is ongoing.

My understanding of my MRI images has just moved to a new level. Thank you, I can now ask more clarifying questions of my specialist. 🤔 😊

I wish my doctor would take the time to go over the MRI with me. They seem to only have 10 mins to spend with me.
  • I am getting ready to have a diagnostic MRI, this was so helpful to ease the anxiety of the test and to understand the results!

Thank you for this. I have brain lesions, spinal lesions, black holes & significant brain atrophy 😂😂 I have had alemtuzumab, and I'm now 4 years free from any new lesions ❤❤

Thank you so much for this clear and easy to understand information. It has helped to give me a much better understanding of my MRIs.

I can’t seem to find a neurologist. There’s a shortage of them here. I need an MRI. Now. I got optical neuritis. Pain in my left eye was unbearable- ended up in ER for a steroid shot. I had blurry vision for about 12 hours. Thankfully my eyesight is back. I don’t know what is coming next. I need a diagnosis. Why is it so hard to get an MRI?

Is open or closed MRI clearer for MS? I scheduled for open because i thought maybe i would feel more relaxed. However, then i thought closed = closer, so i rescheduled for closed because i want a better image and most accurate. If open MRIs sacrifice imaging clarity then i want to do a closed one, so I figured i would ask you since my scheduler couldn’t answer and didn’t direct me to who could 🙁

I just a brain MRI last week and the results said i have three scattered nonspecific foci in the high T2 flare signal in the subcortical and periventical white matter could you give me some insight?
