Understanding audio is crucial to becoming a content creator on Twitch, or YouTube and it’s also one of the biggest barriers because people can’t tell when it is bad, or if they can they don’t know how to fix it.

Before I became an online Content Creator and Streamer, I was in the film industry for over six years, and audio was always something that stumped people despite it being really easy once you get the basics of it down.

Today I am going to help you get set up and sound like a pro on your stream.

To truly make your microphone sound amazing, you’re going to want to learn to use filters in your broadcast software. Now all three of these filters exist in slobs and obs, I’d recommend using them almost all the time, They are Noise Suppression, A limiter, and a Noise gate.

The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

I've come to the conclusion that we're all overcomplicating our audio setups. We don't need expensive gear, intense filters, EQ, or anything else, we just need a decent microphone setup correctly. If you focus on the basics, you'll sound great, and when you sound great you'll be more confident in your videos or streams. Dude I’ve bought so many mics over the years and now I look back at them and think what a waste of money that was but it’s a cool collection.
  • I bought the Q2U because of one of your videos and it’s amazing! Well worth the money and I don’t see myself changing mics any time soon

I've been using the AT-2035 for about 4 years now, and it's done fairly well. I can probably tweak the output a bit, but for the most part, it's served me well, both on stream and when doing voice acting.

Stream Scheme, I love your channel so much, I just had to subscribe!

I have the AT2020 and I love that thing. Just added a noise suppressor filter in OBS and I was good to go!
  • Spent 100 bucks total for my mic setup and it sounds great. Cheap fifine mic with their audio thing for xlr and boom clear audio and no echo or anything good out the box. U dont need the 300 dollar xlr interface if u just want clear audio bruh it’s seems about as important as how expensive your xlr cable is now if you want to go crazy with effects and do other things sure but most people just want to sound good.

Difference was night and day for me swapping from my at2020 condenser to a fifine dynamic microphone since my area kinda sucks for audio. I'll still use the condenser one someday, but kinda regret not just going with the cheaper fifine from the start...especially since I wouldn't have had to buy an interface to go with it since that one is both usb and xlr.

I’m using the Shure SM7B with the Roland Bridge Cast X and now use Prism Live Studio as my streaming software and everything is working perfectly what do you think of Prism Live Studio

I've been using the ATR 2100x for years now. Best budget mic i've ever used and does what it needs. never have an issue from any of my chatters. highly recommended
  • 4 years ago I was told to buy the blue yeti that was a mistake especially during covid and I didnt understand the difference between dynamic and condensers thank God I found actual audio channels and not sponsored youtubers soon after

Hey Eljay thank you for this awesome video! Can I ask what about microphone picking up audio from speakers causing echoes? I know I can use headphones to eliminate this problem, but I was just wondering if there's any filters/settings to play with if I don't want to use headphones?

Trying to find a setup that works for a couple streaming or at least one of us streaming and the other participating from another computer setup. Having trouble getting a setup that works. She has a elgato wave dx and right now i'm just using a headset mic but my voice keeps coming in over her mic. we sit facing the same direction but are about 5 feet apart. We can never find a good tutorial for this type of situation but find lots of people asking about this.
