We went few days back. Took Dramamine non drowsy and was fine. It is not dangerous at all. Loved it!
  • Me and my family had rented an expedition for our trip and couldn’t turn back when we started on this road. Amazingly beautiful and probably would do it again but if you get easily car sick or have anxiety I wouldn’t recommend it. I wasn’t even the one driving and I felt like I needed a Xanax to calm down.
  • Lol this road is my commute to work everyday. And I agree, please don’t come 😂 you guys make my drive horrible going so slow, holding your phones out the window the whole drive. If you do come, PLEASE pull over and let the locals pass…you’ll be able to tell who is local when they ride your bumper cus you’re moving like a snail…

It was so fun driving through Hana. It took me two days. I used low speed and shift gear without using the brake. It seem like I was in race car movie 😂

I took a dramamine ; it’s pretty scary at times ; you are legit on a small windy road that is going SO high up ; I couldn’t look out the window the entire drive - going down was worst !
  • Yea I agree although I'm Hawaiian I still get sick from it I recommend going to the hikes beaches or the blow holes if you go oh and the road trip takes 2 hours to get their unless you yous a private plane

I agree with this, it is beautiful along the roads but very narrow, we did not see very much because you have to hike up the trails to see anything and we had small kids at the time with us so it was so exhausting and we were all sick when we got back to Maui. I'd suggest people do other activities instead because it's very time consuming to go on that drive not to see very much.
  • I’ve done the road and I’ll tell y’all right now! It’s worth it! DO IT! Their is no price to pay! Looks like gladiator in the endemic. Risk it for the biscuit on this one. 👍🏻

Been there, done that, highly recommend doing it.

You need to get out of the car and do some hiking to beautiful waterfalls and bamboo forests. We then picnic in Hana. We love this drive. Just keep your arms inside the car or they can get scraped up by branches.

Is it the winding roads themselves or the height or narrow roads that you're referring to? Are there no guardrails at all? Also is it one way road, I mean once you start is there no turning back. What about taking our 9, 13, and 17 year old boys? Is it too intense?
