People tend to think that the "mind" and the "body" are the whole of themselves, but they don't realize that there is another level of self: the perfect "observer". When you observe your thoughts, you feel that you are the observer, you know that you have a lot of troubles, thoughts running around in your head, you are the observer, not the voices and troubles in your head, and you feel at peace. It's like observing cars on the road, you know that you're not the cars, you're just the observer observing the cars, you're at a distance from the cars, you're not affected by them, you're just observing them; In the same way, when you are observing the troubles and thoughts in your head, you know that you are not the troubles and thoughts in your head, you are just the observer observing the troubles and thoughts in your head, and there is a distance between you and the troubles and thoughts in your head, you are not affected by them, you are just observing them. When you're observing the thoughts, you are the observer, you are observing, knowing, the sounds and the troubles in your head are working, so you the observer, are at a distance from the sounds and the troubles in your head, you're separated from them, you don't seem to be affected by the sounds and the troubles in your head, you just observe them calmly and know that they're working, so you are freed from their bondage, so the pain is reduced, and you are at peace.

Our true identity is often mistaken for the physical body and mind, which are merely accumulations of food and impressions, respectively. By identifying with these accumulations, we limit our perception and experience of reality. The cyclical nature of physical existence and the influence of time bind us to these identities. However, by distancing ourselves from the physical body and its processes, we can transcend these limitations. True enlightenment comes from recognizing that what we call 'me' is not the body or the mind, but something beyond. This realization allows us to perceive life without distortions created by accumulated identities and experiences. The exploration of life and consciousness, untainted by social and cultural conditioning, leads to a deeper understanding of existence. Both science and mysticism are vital in this journey, as they cater to our innate desire to know and explore the true nature of reality.

David Eagleman is a leading expert on the functioning of the brain, how the subconscious determines most of our actions and thoughts. For Eagleman to appreciate that all that he has studied is simply an expert explanation for the mechanism how most people live compulsively and NOT Consciously must be very hard for him to grasp. Kudos to him for his effort. What we accumulate can be ours, but cannot be us. Our opinions, likes and dislikes can be ours, but they cannot be us. Holding all of our accumulations Aside, allows US to live unburdened by the compulsive thought process.

I would like to expand my perception on reality, I’ve learned there’s a big difference between consciousness and our perception

He wants to know who is the I that says it is not the mind and body, and the I is the consciousness, like the actor, and the mind and body is the character within this play we call life, but the life Sadguru is referring to is the functioning of the body, the breath going in and out and not the dramas of Life's play.

So many senseless people like this David Eagleman are becoming scientists. Instead people who have really experienced oneness should be working in governments, universities, scientific areas. Only one thing is good with this Eagleman that he took intervuew from Sadhguru. But in general, he is really very very limited, he is unable to grasp Sadhguru’s words here

I'd say touché but thank God for individual identity, me verses mine & objective reality. However the question of other minds still haunts me & had since I was a teenager. Similarly positive affirmations are disturbing.

sadhguru is avoiding the question "who is behind all the bodies and minds?" the answer is God, God is talking to God and God is avoiding the question God is asking. They are going in circles until Sadhugur empties all his rhetoric
