post processed filter but a cool sight to behold nonetheless
  • We all know is not 2d pixel art, but people, chill, he never said that this was that.
  • 3D renders turned into pixel art such as this cloth movement is actually an amazing way to study how to actually draw something like this in 2D pixel art/animation. So overall it's still great, has a use, and is very satisfying to watch.

I understand this isn't 'true pixel art'. But 3d downscaling is an excellent canvas which you can use to save time as an Indie developer. You can then export frames and add details which and truly add your artistic asthetic. This is reminiscent of the creators of the manga Gantz. They pioneered the use of blending CG with drawn art. They used wireframed 3d models as houses and scenery. And 3d dummy poses as outlines for characters and managed to make one of the most artistically unique, expressive and overall best mangas ever made (top 20 without a doubt). Creation of this manga started in around 1998 for context. Just felt like sharing this to people 😀 (I copied my own Reply to a comment here)

I love how it actually looks like pixel art instead of a lower resolution version of a regular cloth simulation.

It's one of those rare moments in a point n' click game, where the game actually moves.
  • @CCheukKa
This is somehow more satisfying than high-res renders

sonic's ring gets more action on the blanket than I ever will
  • @realjames1
The added effect of the fps change really sold it. Hopefully we can see this more in like shortfilms and stuff like that
  • @NickNitro
your moves are impressive, now animate sonic taking that ring!
  • @shmoba
It’s just slightly TOO fluid, it makes it kinda unnerving but if you added a bit of drag and resistance it would be amazing!
  • @yogikawai
When you put the graphics on the lowest so the game can run smoothly

Wow! this video has blown up over the last couple of days. Thank you all so much for your appreciation. I will be uploading pixel art style content regularly from now on and answer some of the questions that you folks have, so make sure to subscribe and keep watching.

People: there's no way someone can make this without blender! Kekeflipnote: 👀
  • @icyyanimations
Everyone is talking about how it’s just downscaled, but forget to notice that to get this effect you’d need cell shading too
  • @JamesLawner
I love this. The way the cloth runs over the ring is so soothing
