Have you heard of your vagus nerve? It's a nerve that connects your brain to your gut and is in charge of (1) making sure your organs are doing ok (2) turning on your body's anti-stress parasympathetic nervous system response. Try this 10 minute routine to activate your vagus nerve to jumpstart your anti-stress response.

WHAT IS BRAIN EDUCATION TV?
Brain Education TV provides mental health and mental wellness videos to help young adults with loneliness, depression, and anxiety. The foundation of our content comes from Brain Education, an academic study from South Korea that stems from over 40 years of research and application and has been practiced by millions around the world.

WHY WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTHā€¦
We suffered from high-functioning loneliness and depression our whole lives. We lived different lives in different states, but when we met, we realized we were struggling with common issues that reflected an important problem in our young adult generation. We didnā€™t know who we were, what we were passionate about, what we should live for, and what direction our lives were ā€œsupposedā€ to go. We spent a lot of time wandering in search of that magical ā€˜answerā€™ that will solve all problems (like Iā€™m sure most of you are doing right now), and yet the further we searched outside, the more pronounced the emptiness inside of us felt.

Millions of people suffer silently from mental health related issues. Yet our society still places taboos around openly talking about relevant mental health topics like loneliness, depression, and anxiety. As a result, our young adults donā€™t know how to talk about it constructively, where to turn to, or what resources they have to combat this real-life threat to their wellbeing.

We credit Brain Education for giving us the courage to overcome our own mental health struggles and create the lives we want...and now we hope you can too through the videos we share on this channel.

  • As I was doing this for the first time, this idea popped into my head: "What if I watched these kind of videos instead of watching the daily news. " Stunning! Thank you for doing this for the world and doing it all with Love.

My palpitations were getting worse, this saved me from spiralling, the resources from youtube are very underrated and better than doctors
  • @ApplePie..
This is why cats purr when they are stressed out. Humming and chanting does the same thing.

Iā€™ve been doing this exercise for one week now. I feel like a whole new person. Wish Iā€™d known about this tears ago. Would have saved me years of anxiety .

Clearly, you were looking in the windows of my childhood. It took me decades to admit to myself Iā€™d been abused. It was just a few months ago that I was able to wrap my head around the idea (FACT) that my mom is a narcissist. Iā€™m 60 years old. Iā€™m finally finding my way to a sovereign Self. Thank you for this video. Itā€™s one more step on my path to healing.

I have had severe constipation due to long term fight or flight stress caused by trauma. I did this routine and the very first time it helped me have a bowel movement. I will continue to do this while my body heals. Thanks you!!!
  • @Empressco
I suffer from a panic disorder and struggle to make it through work every day. Iā€™m excited to start doing this every day!
  • @ladylarmalade
OMG. Iā€™ve been having crippling anxiety nonstop just even around my house and figured it was a vagus nerve thing but had no idea it was this easy to relieve. Nothing has felt this good in months and months. Iā€™m crossing my fingers that everyone going through the same thing finds this video. I love you all.

Thank you. Here are ways to stimulate your VAGUS nerve Alternate-nostril breathing Apply cold compresses to your face and the back of your neck Be quiet Breathe deeply and slowly Compliment others Connect with nature Diaphragmatic breathing, the slower the better Eat a whole-foods diet Exercise (within your ability/within your physicianā€™s guidelines if you are being treated for upper cervical instability) Expose your skin to sunlight Have an attitude of gratitude Hum (such as a rhythmic Om) Laugh and giggle often Listen to calming instrumental music versus amped-up, heavy music Listen to music with uplifting, happy, grateful lyrics versus complaining, bitter, spiteful lyrics Sing (make a joyful noise!) Massage Meditate Nostril breathing (versus mouth breathing) Pray for your own healing and for others (including those who you may see as ā€œenemiesā€ or ones who have hurt you) Reflexology Regularly move your body Say ā€œthank youā€ Smile as much as possible Take probiotics or eat probiotic foods Visit with people who lift your spirit versus make you feel crummy

The saliva reaction, 1st time. Also, you have one of the warmest most genuine smiles I've ever seen...
  • @bnergetic2001
I came across this video 3 weeks ago and have been doing everyday since. This has changed my life! I was not able to eat without esophageal spasms and pains in my back for 2 months before starting this. I didn't even know what a Vagus nerve was. One the first day I was able to eat without discomfort or pain and everyday there after has been more pleasurable to eat. I have expanded my food pallette to many foods I ate before the spasms started. You are doing a great service to the people by sharing your knowledge. A thousand thank you's!!!!
  • @MY-gc3pu
I grew up with a lot of violence in the home. Somehow I knew to massage into my belly button! My mother put bandaids over it because I worked it so often! I have two siblings who ended up with major addictions and thankfully I did not. I suspect this early intuition helped me through some, early, very rocky, waters!
  • @libragal927
I'm definitely a fan! My anxiety attack raised my BP to 170/112 this evening. I watched the video and did the exercises for two sessions. Now my BP is 139/96. Thank you ā£ļø
  • @pauencina7148
Iā€™ve been doing this for 2 years and 6 months and Iā€™m a new person now. This is really helpful to those people with anxiety. ā¤
  • Hello all, I just wish you share a short story. I had a successful lung operation, however when the rib cage was torn open to gain access to the pneumonia lung, all my nerves in that region had been disconnected . Five years later and this short exercise helped that area feel heaps better . I will continue this for comfort .
