Maduro Wins Venezuela Election, Opposition Rejects Poll Results

2024-07-28に共有
Venezuela's electoral council has declared President Nicolas Maduro the winner of the election with more than 51% votes. The result comes despite independent exit polling suggesting opposition candidate, Edmundo González, had captured twice as many votes. Venezuela’s political opposition is rejecting the results calling on the military to intervene. Bloomberg's Crayton Harrison in Caracas discusses with Joumanna Bercetche on Horizons Middle East & Africa what a Maduro win means for Venezuela's sanctions-crippled economy.

  • My wife is from Venezuela. She's got all kinds of different footage of the government trying to go into schools and getting kicked out to cheat on the voting.
  • 😂😂😂Did anyone really expect different results? If you did you’re very ignorant about elections in Venezuela under Maduro.

This is what is going to happen in the USA if people don't wake the heck up...
  • I am sad for the Venezuelan people. Life is hard enough on this Earth. We do not need people that make it harder.

Hate dictatorships from left or right, doesn't matter.

A poll from Edison Research, known for its polling of U.S. elections, had predicted in an exit poll that Gonzalez would win 65% of the vote, while Maduro would win 31%. Local firm Meganalisis predicted a 65% vote for Gonzalez and just under 14% for Maduro.
  • I laughed out loud when I heard about the polls indicating the opposition leading in the polls. A show of hands of who thinks Maduro will actually lose an "election".
  • @TheAto2000
I randomly thought about Maduro and his predecessor Chavez before midnight, with no idea about this election.
