The Most Tourist Friendly Two Michelin Star Sushi Omakase in Tokyo for $150 ONLY! | 海味 • Sushi Umi

Published 2023-02-11
Sushi Umi is a true gem, boasting not just two Michelin stars awards but also the Bronze 2022 Tabelog Award, a rare honor held by only 24 sushi restaurants in Tokyo. This restaurant is especially welcoming to foreign visitors.

The sushi at Sushi Umi is expertly crafted by Chef Seiichi Shimamoto, who brings a serious, focused approach to his craft. Yet, outside of the kitchen, he is warm and friendly, going the extra mile by providing a helpful sushi booklet that includes photos, Japanese and English names for each type of nigiri. Overall, a visit to Sushi Umi is truly a memorable experience that will leave you wanting to come back for more.

I used to work here.I've recalled my memories when I see towels, plates and knives hanging on the left side of the wall of the counter seats, even the master has been changed,he still served caviar and brown rice which is as khnown as the signature dish of Umi.Nice and thank you for uploading this video.

I just had the omakase lunch course two days ago. He put the charcoal seared nodoguro on the regular menu, and that piece just MELTED in my mouth.

Lovely, I miss the prep and making of sushi everyday but I don't miss working in a restaurant

Nodoguro is soooo good. Had it when I was in Kanazawa last time and had it last year in Bangkok at a 1 Michelin star sushi place

Been to Sushi Umi back in 2017, right after the new owner took over due to the passing of old owner. Had a great experience then. Might go again next year if we visit Japan.

Just looked into a reservation, lunch is now 37500 yen / 245usd and Dinner is 48000 yen / 321 usd. 63% increase since this video came out. Thank you for ‘ruining’ our expectation that we’d pay 150 for a two Michelin star omekase 🤣. Just kidding really, more power to that chef if he can command that price; we’ll probably still check sushi umi out. 😎
  • Why do I only now see these AMAZING SUSHI OMAKASE tourist friendly places?!?!?! I would love to have tried this place while I was in Japan late Oct 2023🤨☹️
