  • I've seen this a ton of times but I've never realised how far back Kevin came from

Here after hearing about his retirement. He’s the last active driver from the Winston Cup days. It’s truly going to be an end of an era. Thank you for all the memories Kevin #4ever

I absolutely love this video.  My Mom died two weeks before her beloved 2007 Daytona 500 and was a Harvick fan due to Dale's influence.  For those who think that racing is NOT a sport, you're quite wrong.  The stamina and mentality alone makes it a sport, and even more importantly the unseen members of the team.

I'm so glad this is still on YT. It reminds just how much is going on in a superspeedway race. When you watch it on TV it just doesn't look as intense as it does from the perspective of the driver. Constantly changing throttle input, cars dancing all around you, constantly bumping and getting bumped in a car that you have to turn to the right to go straight. I only wish it was shorter. 500 miles every weekend is a little much.

Harvick's insane drive through the field in this race after having to make an extended pit stop under one of the late cautions always gets overlooked by the finish. Glad this video is here to show that.

I can't imagine the excitement, the camera flashes, the spotter yelling your ear, really does seem like NASCAR at it's peak. #4ever
  • "17, 31, 24, all behind ya" No wonder, Kevin charged to the front. He had Plate Nirvana pushing him!!
  • @mikemike388
Three wide- come on buddy! Gives me chills. Can’t imagine how Kevin and the spotter were feeling when he got that last push on the backstretch to take the win.

I remember this race. I was jumping up and down for Mark Martin. After they crossed the checkers my buddy looked over at me and said, “where the hell did Harvick come from?”. His drive through the pack was epic!

Love this perspective. I'm an iRacer, let me just say this old Daytona surface is brutal. So hard to keep control with all the bumps when the racing gets intense. Also, it's astounding how smooth these guys are. Guys on iRacing bobble around and suck at listening to their spotters.

I miss the old restrictor plate racing noise with the dual exhaust pipes. They need to bring back this package, because this was real restrictor plate racing.

I was at this race some 16 years ago. I was 10 years old. Parents took me across country, we sat 1st row coming out of turn 4. Cars fly by and rubber flies up and hits you in the face. Ill never forget those moments. Miss those days alot. Was a jeff gordon fan so it sucked seeing him smack the wall 100 yards from the finish but he still got a top 10.
  • I’ll never forget this 500. Many will for the wrecking at the end (which was awesome) but Harvick. How he stole the show and earned every inch was unreal. Wow.
  • @JustColbert
4:04 That was an incredible save. If Kenseth lost it that would’ve been disastrous
  • @titodavila6734
A full 10 laps of gen 4 engines beautiful. Also his Spotter sounds like the one from NASCAR Heat 3
  • Easily the greatest Daytona 500 finish ever. Thanks for the perspective and in-car audio. Amazing.
