One of the things I really wanted to do on my few days in Florida was to fly my drone in the Florida Keys. The Florida Keys are one of the most amazing places in the world. And, like most flat places, they are actually really hard to photograph. Luckily, flying a drone fixes that as it ads some depth to the imagery. So, I headed down to the Florida Keys for an afternoon to shoot some footage and take some stills. I flew my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced at Scout Key, Conch Key, and Sugarloaf Key. Although, in reality I think there were some other Keys closer to the mainland that I would have also liked to fly over.
In general, it was a pretty good day. However, I'm picking up a nasty cold, and called it quits a little bit early on.
Oh, and also, before you go making comments, yes, I followed all of the laws for flying drones in Florida in this episode.

Sorry you were sick; Bahia Honda is one of my zen places. I just love camping there!

Have you ever lost a drone flying over the water? I am nervous every time I get near it. Sending it over the long bridges, I think I would have a stroke.

We LOVE the Keys! Your 'drone' footage is awesome! This is the first of your videos I've watched. Subscribed! A million questions, that I will most likely discover through your other videos; What quad are you using? What FPV goggles / antennas? Is that a gopro on the selfie stick? I'm an old balsa stick / slime fuel RC flyer. Just getting into multi rotor. Am fascinated by aerial photography / video! Wouldn't mind trying FPV racing sometime, but am focusing on a video platform first. Thanks for sharing!

You can fly in state parks, just not national parks. In other states your allowed to fly in state parks.

How do you travel with your drone, especially on planes? Do you check or carry on, and if you carry on is it in an additional bag to your camera gear or do you try to combine them?
  • This is great! would you be willing to let me use some of the drone footage in a video I'm making?... I will give you credit and links in the description.
  • Nice! Looking forward to your footage from Albania. When you have flown Fido, was there ever a person who tried to interrupt you while flying? Police, local residents, etc.?
  • Nice video, any issues flying your drone anywhere in the Keys b.c I know in Keywest you can't fly anywhere.
