  • Several years ago my daughter and I went to Greece for 2 weeks. We both used backpacks (mine was a larger suitcase style that only fit in the overhead storage space on totally full flight.) I had more clothes than I needed for that length of time. I’m a 73 year old, 5’5” woman and that pack now feels too large and heavy. I just purchased a 28l soft clamshell opening style backpack and it is perfect. It was fine for a recent two week vacation (I’ve learned to travel light). No more large, heavy packs or suitcases for me. Light weight and minimal is definitely the way to go!

I pack for travel in a similar fashion, albeit without the cosmetics (I don't think they could do any improvements on my bald & moustached male face) ... but for clothes I definitely use packing cubes / dry sacs. Imagine trying to reach those Birks at the bottom on the bag, having to pull everything out, looking for a place to keep them while moving. I'd also always keep things like - a flashlight, water purification drops, mosquito repellent and such.

Don’t pack your fears. That’s my biggest takeaway from this video.

i personally think you could have gone without half of those things to make space for the one thing that really mattered.... the cat. Not everyone can reach that level of efficiency with packing, but it could be a nice goal to aim for

You gave me a bit of courage and clarity on packing lighter. Thanks!

I’ve never done backpack only. I never check bags, but I always have a carry on and a personal item. Next time I fly, I want to combine so I have my hands free. I’m small so dealing with two bags can be annoying at times. Have a nice Saturday!
  • Its also hard here in australia when they only give you 7kg in a carry on baggage
  • @Ro.Saraso
I used to do the same with my cat 💚💚

I love these types of videos. I'm traveling with only a backpack this year🎉

Hi I went from a overpacked 50 liter suitcase to a to a 40 liter backpack. And this year I'm going smaller I have a 32 liter backpack from Osprey that I'm going to try for Summer vacation this year. I used the Osprey for weekend trips and city trips. Now I'm going to try is a week vacation.

Hello from a fellow light packing person! Love that you manage a backpack for your trip, I usually have a carry on but might try the backpack instead with your tips

First time watching and commenting. I got a backpack the other day. I hope to use it when I travel it seems small but I'll see. It has a space for laptop. I usually take under the seat suitcase.

Your airlines must allow a high weight limit as our airlines only allow 7kg inclusive. There is only one packing vid i have seen that has demo’d packed items and weight. It would be interesting to know how much your bag weighed after it was packed?
