Qatar Airways First Class is back! After nearly two years grounded, the Airbus A380 returns to the sky. I’m on the very first flight out of London Heathrow, in their First Class and for me, for the first time! I’ll walk you through the complete experience in todays trip report, of what it’s like at the airport as a First Class passenger, and what to expect onboard. From fine dining, to the huge A380 inflight lounge. We’ll look at some of the best bathrooms in the sky, and of course what it’s like to have the entire First Class cabin to myself.

Also today, I will share some of my exclusive interview with Qatar Airways Group CEO, His Excellency, Mr Akbar Al Baker, where I get to ask him more about the plans for the A380, and why it’s back in the sky. I’ll also take you behind the scenes of Qatar’s catering facility in Doha, so you can see how your inflight food is really made… just a heads up this will make you hungry!

Their decor is so slick. I love the color. Purple is a “cool” color that is meant to calm you down and keep you mellow, and I can absolutely see myself feeling very calm and zen in that cabin. The food looked great, bed looks comfy, and the service looked very consumer friendly. Look out, Emirates!
  • In August I got to fly La Premiere on Air France from Miami to Paris. I always fly business class, so this was so fabulous. The girl at the MIA check in literally left her post to accompany me through security. She lifted my bags on and off, and took my passport for me. I was taken to a special lounge in MIA which had a sign that said “reserved for LaPremiere passengers only” - that was me and only me😂. Once onboard, I was still the only one in LaPremiere (four seats only), and the champagne was flowing. I was in 1A, although I could have sat anywhere. My deadly allergy to all seafood precluded having caviar, but my attendant happily found a fabulous mushroom tarte instead. The menu was so huge, but I chose the poulet avec herbs and my meal was to die for, except no anaphylactic shock, thank God. For dessert it was a dark chocolote bomb. The meal could have gone on with cheese, etc., but I wanted to sleep. I took the beautiful Lalique pajamas, went into the enormous bathroom to change, and when I returned, my huge room (5 windows) was prepared. The seats became a huge bed with mattress, double sheets and duvet. I slept for 7 hours because AF La Premiere has floor ceiling black out magnetic drapes so that even if my attendant had walked down the aisle, I could not have noticed. I asked him to awaken me for breakfast (or I would have slept forever, I think), and the omelette and accompanying dishes were superb. Off I went to change back into my clothes, and just in time for landing. As I was transferring to Roma, I was met at the door by an attendant who took me down to the tarmac and drove me to the La Premiere lounge. I had only 1 1/2 hours and so I chose only the pate de foie gras, which was spectacular; used the huge beautiful bathroom; and voila, my attendant appeared and took me down the elevator to the tarmac and once again drove me to my Rome flight. I started flying Air France last November, rather than Delta, when I fly overseas. Delta’s planes are so worn out. This was a brand new 777, and I flew them November 2021, December 2021, March 2022 and August 2022. I am flying AF again in December, Miami to CDG and on to FCO. So far, La Premiere has not opened up, but my fingers are crossed. I’m a 2 million miler on Delta and AF is their partner. I think I am spoiled for life from my August flights. AF used to be somewhat of a joke, but now they are ultra-premium, comparable if not better to Singapore and Etihad. The floor to ceiling thick drapery was a huge plus when I was on my return flight and all four seats were taken. Nobody can look in and nobody can disturb you with lights from their TV etc. If you haven’t already flown La Premiere, I think you will love it. Thank you for your great content. (I do miss theA380😢).

We could literally see you shaking with excitement when describing how you’ve been looking forward to this experience - first A380 flight in first class on Qatar (starting at 5:08).
No one could fake that kind of enthusiasm, we could feel it through the screen !
  • @alexgaming2036

  • @mrjaycam18
The wiggle in the seat at 5:11 had me rolling! Your enthusiasm was in display throughout this one.

The beautiful A380 is just perfection. It is my favourite airliner, even though i haven't been on one.... Although, I did see one for the first time landing in NZAA Auckland, New Zealand and what a sight. Keep up the content Will, I love it!!

A brilliant combo, Will the expert and Qatar A380 just says it all. The worry of not seeing this beauty of a plane because of Covid is quite sad but lets enjoy the wonderful moments we have to experience it. Thanks once again for the contents Will! Truly amazing!

Flight attendant: which lights do you want for your video?
Will: I'll take all of them please
  • Just flew this from Bangkok to Doha...absolutely fantastic experience
  • @amc3
So glad to see the Whale back in London, saw it on the ground just a few days ago. impressed by the interview with the boss, he was honest due to the A350 issue.
Really hope Airbus address this in a swift and fast manner. Fantastic product with the best Airline in the Sky. Given up on Emirates, cost cutting is not appealing in
Business Class, used to fly them from Glasgow, but now choose Qatrar form Edinburgh on their 787 Dreamliner. Different ball game.
