Replacing a worn out and jamming ignition lock barrel in my mum's 2007 VZ Commodore wagon. Spare parts (#92172018) came from a local Holden dealer, though can be found for about half the price online. I wanted them same day so $70 over the counter.

00:10 Sometimes banging the end of the key will make it turn one last time.
00:15 Removing fuse box cover.
00:44 Removing the one screw.
00:55 Removing the steering column trim.
02:00 The tiny hole you need to know about.
02:20 Do you see it?
02:45 Note: the banging-the-end-of-the-key trick doesn't work while you are filming.
02:54 Making a tool to stick in the tiny hole.
03:05 To get the barrel out you need it in ACC, not ON.
03:20 Releasing the lock barrel with tool + tiny hole.
03:40 Part number #92172018.
04:15 Releasing the spring detent that holds the tumbler inside the barrel.
04:34 As you can see, the barrel starts to jam as the wafers wear out and stop lining up with the cylinder.
04:50 Disassembling the tumbler, removing and identifying the wafers. The first wafer might be slightly bent and harder to remove from having the key rammed into it but the rest should come out easily.
05:09 Draw a map to help keep track of the right combination.
06:05 Each wafer is marked with a type number from 1 to 9.
06:24 Identifying the lock combination.
06:45 Labeling the new wafers provided.
07:38 Take care not to mix up type 6 and type 9. Some of the the others had numbers stamped upside-down.
08:15 Preparing the new wafers.
09:01 Differentiating wafer type 6 and 9. Look at the size of the notch in the bottom-right corner.
09:44 Loading springs into the new tumbler.
10:10 Checking that the first wafer is flush with the cylinder with the key inserted.
10:37 Mum arrives in a rubbish former police car (prepare for chipmunks).
11:33 All of the new wafers installed. With the key inserted, all now align perfectly with the cylinder.
11:43 Grease. This isn't the right kind of grease, just the grease I had.
12:10 The new spring detent.
12:19 My nephew being posh.
12:45 First reassembly, inserting the new detent into the new barrel. Do so with care – I fired the old one across the room twice by accident.
13:00 Testing.
13:10 Realising I need to dismantle it once more to install the latch which retains the barrel in the steering column. This is the part you depress by poking the tiny-hole-tool through the tiny hole.
13:30 Dismantling the barrel again.

13:40 Getting the latch pin started. Note: The latch and it's spring must be in place and fully depressed before you hammer the pin all the way in.
14:18 The assembled retaining latch mechanism.
14:28 Second reassembly.
14:57 Another part I should have installed before the tumbler.
15:39 Third reassembly.
15:54 Installing the back spring. The grease is to stop the spring fleeing into the night on the walk back to the shed as much as for lubrication.
16:03 Preparing the accessory switch for lock insertion.
16:55 Reinstalling the barrel shroud.
18:03 Reinstalling steering column trim.
19:05 Pulling the rubber boot out from behind the plastic trim.
19:15 Reinstalling fuse box cover.

Thankyou. The ONLY video on youtube that shows that you have to use a screwdriver to retract the steering lock (press it down) 16:05 before the new lock barrel will push in all the way.
