  • Spectacular Spider-Man is almost perfect. The only thing it needed to complete perfection was to be finished
  • Recently rewatched all of Spectacular with my GF who'd never seen it. She absolutely hated me when we got to the last episode. She was just like "How could you show me something this good if you know it'll never get a real ending?" So yeah, it still hurts, even when you already know it's coming.

Villains? On the Rise. City? Victimized. Looking up? No surprise. Arrival? In the speed of time.
  • @gilgafresh923
All it missed was just a few more seasons and sprinkles of crossovers that were just spread out far enough with each other that makes you still remember that this is a Spider-Man Cartoon.

"relatable doesn't mean he's a self-insert devoid of personality it just means he deals with everyday conflicts that feel like something your average person would encounter and struggle with. being a normal person isn't totally glamorous, and sometimes it sucks." isekai anime has a real problem with understanding this when it comes to the main character
  • Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men and Avengers: EMH are the holy trinity of modern Marvel cartoons.

Although the quantity and quality of Marvel animated projects may not be comparable to those of DC, I will always have a place in my heart for the animated series of the 2000s like Spectacular, EMH, and Woverine and the X-Men. You can feel that there was a thought behind all those shows, which were unfortunately canceled one by one.

I love how this show makes you think twice about norman being the first green goblin or not. Even if you know the green goblin storys well.
  • I’ve always loved the art style for this show and it’s actually a big reason to why this show is one of my favourites. I honestly didn’t really know a lot of others didn’t like it
  • 'Canon is a cruel and fickle mistress that doesn't love you" this aged beautifully with the release of the new Spiderverse lol
  • @dude9904
The fact that this was never concluded will always hurt
  • Given your history being tired of Spider-Man content, regardless of any obligation to this series, I actually sincerely appreciate you making this and very much looking forward to seeing it.

In the comics, Electro has an inferiority complex due to him feeling like a nobody, particularly by his family that even when he gets his godlike power, he still doesn’t feel worthy enough so that’s what motivates him to get more power or doing some of the crazy stuff he’s been notable for. That’s why it made sense why they made Jamie Foxx the outcast nerd that wanted to be noticed.
  • I feel like the push to bring this series back may be somewhat based on what happened to Young Justice. Another well received comic book show, made by Greg Weisman that was canceled for stupid reason after two seasons. That series was brought back for HBO Max so some hold out hope for Spectacular to also come back.
  • Xavier finally said what I been saying about Gwen’s character for years. People that claim to like Gwen only liked her because of this show and the amazing movies.
  • @Courier_333
This show captured the 'chip on his shoulder' Peter better than any other adaptation. I don't love some of the villains but Peter is perfect
  • The superb writing makes it feel real. This series feels as if Spider-Man could exist in real life. A large portion of this is due to the central character of Peter Parker. His interactions with friends and relationships at Midtown High School ground him to a sense of reality.

I’ve always wanted to see a Spider-Man series where Mr. Sinister is behind the creation of Spider-Man enemies as a way to test him much like a scientific study.

12:33 While I do see where you are coming from, Electro do have a relatable "personality" that is often forgotten about. Electro might be one of my favorite S-M villains and that is because he started of as a regular nobody who suffered from low self-esteem. He always denied other ambitions because he didn't think he was smart enough. That all changed when he got his powers. Just like Peter, his powers made him more confident. As Electro, he set up to prove himself as a somebody. Unfortunately that part of the character often gets forgotten about which is ashame
  • Two quick things: 1) on the topic of Josh Keaton's voice acting career, it's really cool that wise men or someone else in the know brought him on to play the villain black spider on young justice. Very fun IYKYK stuff there. 2) there's a fantastic piece of fanfiction called Fighting Crime, Spinning Webs that continues the story after the cancellation of SSM and goes on to incorporate pretty much the entire Marvel universe into the story. The characterization for most of them comes from the other Yost-verse shows but include a lot of nods to both classic continuity and different adaptations, as well.
