A newcomer's perspective on this divisive entry, now that I've played most of them.

Final Fantasy XV was developed and published by Square Enix and first released in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Loved this game. Every bit of it. Even the late game turn into a more linear structure. Story, characters, soundtrack, gameplay. Had a blast with it and it’s stuck with me for years.

I still remember my older sister having to buy me this game because it was a school day for me. I was 16 (I'm 24 now which is crazy), still in high school, but for months I was so excited to play it on day 1. For the next few months, it was the only game I played because I was so addicted to it. The story, the characters, the ost, the fandom on youtube, it was all great. By the time I got to the last scene, with Noctis giving his speech to his friends around the campfire, I couldn't help but cry a bit. This game was so touching and pure with showing how good friendships should be. I remember a youtuber I watched playing this said that it reminded her of FF X. She said that she was in highschool when that game came out, but was lonely with no friends. She saw Tidus, Yuna, and everyone else as her friends. I thought that was cute and I definitely felt the same way here. I had friends at the time, but they were toxic compared to how genuine Noctis and his crew were. It helped me take a good look at my "friends" and distance myself. But yeah.. as soon as you play the first scene, with everyone pushing the car and "Stand by me" plays, you just know it's gonna be good.

Just discovered your channel and I'm really enjoying your reviews.
  • It makes me so sad to see this game not get enough love, i get why people may not like it, especially people expecting turn-based but its honestly so enjoyable to play and i love this game so much

Great review. I wondered if its movie was required watching. This game always interested me with it's buddy system party and the seemingly deep lore.
  • I played Final Fantasy XV for the first time in 2020 with the Royal Edition (all of the dlc included except for Ardyn which I did buy and also enjoyed) and I thought the game was good. It's definitely not the best Final Fantasy game, but it was fun. The open world is not very good, but I did enjoy the cast of characters (specifically the bros), story, music, etc. It's a shame that we will probably never see another Cindy looking character ever again. :\ Oh man, looking forward to hear your thoughts on Final Fantasy VI. That's one of the best!
  • FF15 is my guilty pleasure , I like it way more than I should, I did enjoy the exploration, and the character growth, But yes the story was not the best, and I found once I got to the last 3rd of the game I just was to rush through it to get to the end. The ending I have mixed feeling about. Again I should care about the climatic ending, but since the story as a whole it like lukewarm milk, it did not pull me in. I will say I think I enjoy the first half of the game, mostly when I pick it up (For windows) we where in the big pajama Party, and I was playing it while there was nothing else to do.
  • Played it when it was on ps plus wasn’t so sure if I actually wanted to buy it but hell considering I heard some good things about this game I just decided to get the royal edition since it was on sale and ya I’m loving this game I’ll probably start a ng+ as soon as I finish all the side stuff

This has been sitting in my steam library unplayed. Hope to get to it one day.

I appreciate a southerners take on JRPGs. While I may not agree with you on everything (cough ff4 cough) I like hearing people challenge the things I like. I've seen enough of your videos. Subscribed.
  • Once you get a better pc this will be a game changer for you with your recording.

Done with it took me 6 years to get in but damn what a game despite all it's flaws

I actually enjoyed Final Fantasy XV a lot. The main issue is that this is an incomplete game. It feels like it's missing a chunk of plot that should have been in the middle of the game. I did watch both the movie and the anime shorts before playing the game though. So I knew the backstories of the main characters. One thing I do hate about this game is that it had some DLC that was timed. So there are at least 2 DLCs that are not accessible in the game right now. There was also a demo were you control Noctis as a kid in somekind of dreamworld with Carbuncle. That's also missing nowdays if you didn't download the demo on PS4 back in the day... There is also a book, and some canceled DLCs as well. If they had managed to integrate everything into the game (including the plot of the movie and anime) I think this could have been a masterpiece. Sadly, the end result is very disjunted...
  • I just like how the characters interact with each other and prompto is amazing and I like how its a complete game I feel like ill beat ff16 at like level 40 no reason to grind ya ff15 is the real deal for the old school gamers

Did you do something to the video feed? Because my frame rate ain't that bad when I am playing the game, just have been playing it the past week and it ain't that choppy (PS5 if that helps but I played it on PS4 before and it ain't that choppy too.) Anyways, I legit love FFXV so much more over XVI, i went one and done with XVI, it just didn't have that soul to want me to redo that game... P:S the interact and jump thing may actually be tied to region specific, over here where I'm at the confirm button is default at O "Asian" whereas in Western regions confirm is usually fixed to "X". Except for the stupid PS5 where I can no longer change it back to "O" 😢

It's super fun now with all the DLC's and Royal content. I have played it more than 5 times and the battles and the dynamic between the 4 boys it's like nothing ever seen on the franchise. You can add some difficulty by playing being lvl 1, not using Armiger Unleashed for the final battles or not using items. The music is top 5 in the ff saga and the world still feels super fresh to explore. Even now I recently finished FF7R twice, the graphics of XV still look good in 2024, so yes everyone should give it a try

The first platinum I ever got on Ps4. I literally converted every last square inch of this game

This game is so much better than FF16 it’s absurd. I was meh on 15, then I played 16. God awful. Came back to 15 and love it much more
