Is Final Fantasy 15 in 2023 Worth Playing

Final Fantasy 15 is the latest Final Fantasy game and with Final Fantasy 16 coming out very soon, I wanted to check out how this game holds up in 2023. Final Fantasy XV is the most hated Final Fantasy game of all time, but I personally loved it. But it had a very rough development cycle, a name change, and so many additions to since its launch that it is almost a completely different game now. In fact, it was released with all these changes as Final Fantasy XV: The Royal Edition. And this is the edition that I played through for this video. So, I ask the dire question: Is Final Fantasy 15 in 2023 worth playing? Let's find out!

The characters in this game really feels like your friends, whenever I get home after school I always look forward to spending time with these dudes and it always feel so real.

The worst part of XV is that you can clearly see the potential this game had if it didn't get pushed aside for 10 years or had 1 year to be developed. It's still a great journey even though it's not a complete game, but it's frustrating to know that it had the potential to be one of the best final fantasy title of the franchise

i have played all the final fantasy's but this one here has a special place in my heart. My wife had bought this game for me for christmas for me in 2019 and started playing through it if i wasn't working or spending time with the family i was playing this game. as im playing this game i reach the part after the leviathan fight and Noctis finds out luna passed away. a day later my wife passed away from an asthma attack. stop playing the game for a while. and decided to pick it back up and it was good i did so. This game made me reach out to my good friends my brother's. I was in so much grief i didn't want to be around no one this game helped me alot to cope with my grief and knew i could not handle my grief alone. granted there were some flaws with this game (cough cough magic system) but i still play this game and enjoy it
  • Even with it's flaws, FF15 is something magical and special, definitely worth playing ❤

Not only are they great friends, they challenge Noctis become better. The callbacks in the ending just broke me down. Fun combat, good story and a wonderful ending. Love this game

I played 15 before Royal, it's one of the best gaming experience I have. There's no way you didn't tear up when choosing the best photo to take from Prompto. I love Noctis and the boys as characters they're the strongest aspect of 15 and I always be thankful for the team who made this. We can see the flaws from the development hell it experience oh but you can't deny the passion and the heart they pour into it.

the perfect imperfect game. ff15 had so many glaring issues like its pacing and world progression but it was such an addicting and fun game that i cant help but rank it among the best ive ever played.

After completing Final Fantasy 16 (after years of anticipation), my opinion of 15 has actually improved. While overall 16 is probably a better, more refined package, 15 has so much more character and soul in its world, music and characters. With the DLC and updates the game is much more enjoyable than at launch... but I dream that one day its get a complete re-release with additional content + DLC merged into a single cohesive 'Ultimate' edition. It would be amazing to have additional scenes in Insomnia at the start of the game for example, so that we could see the city before its eventual demise, or have the opportunity to explore Altissia etc. Plus it would be nice to not have to select the DLC through a menu, but have it truly integrated into the main game.
  • I will ALWAYS love this game. Who wouldn't want loyal, caring friends like these guys? ❤

As a looooong time fan (playing from the snes days) 15 is unashamedly one of my favourites. I'm currently playing again on a new game + mode, I love the story (even the film) I love the land and all the lore. I understand why some people don't like it but I urge them to give it another go. I hated 13 for years but I played through the whole trilogy last year and it all finally clicked. Sometimes you just need some time.

A lot of people are dissing FFXVs intro after the FFXVI demo came out because of how much slower it is but what people don't understand is that they both succeed at what they want to do. FFXV is about brotherhood and the opening represents that, FFXVI is about revenge redemption and eventually purpose and it's intro also succeeds in doing so. Slower doesn't mean worse and vice versa
  • @MrKing545
I would love to see this specific get a reboot or even just remade again with all the crazy things they originally had plan now that they'll be working with new gen consoles. Feel like if they made this game now, the game would easily be one of the best of all time. I love this game already and could only imagine how much more they could've done if they weren't dealing with the PS4/Xbox.

FF15 quickly became one of my favorite video games. I remember when it was first released, but I was way too young to play it at the time. I only remembered its existence back in 2022 and bought it for my PS4 💀. Yes, the game has its flaws, and the game went through a tough development; versus 13 being scrapped entirely, all the updates, rushed story writing, etc. However, MANY parts of the game made me sob like a baby, and I developed a strong attachment to the guys and their friendship. I got quickly attached to Prompto, specifically, as I had grown up very similar to how he did as shown in the Brotherhood anime and a few scenes in the game. The game helped pull me through a tough time in my life, as I had been suffering from depression. Kinda silly considering how tragic the story is, but it's true. I don't care if others think the game is bad or not, but to me, it's an imperfect masterpiece, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. (Sorry bout the rambling 😭‼️)

Yeah your pals in the game feel very real and supportive of each other and dog on eachother like real friends it makes the game so enjoyable
  • @elizabeth4689
Had so much fun exploring the open world! Driving around doing missions and getting to ride chocobos was so fun
  • @quarterlyfe
I remember the 10 year long wait for this game. The inconsistent story change, ideas that were layer dropped. But when I finally got my hand on the game it became one of my favorites of all time. There are ideas that I wish they didn't drop. I wish we choukd have explored the crown city before the time skip. It was a fun game but it felt like the demo and other content didn't really matter. Many villan characters were forgotten in the game after a single chapter. It's super fun!... but the story is rough... especially if you were apart of the community that was invested in lore solving and theories. I'm gonna buy this for Ps5 and see how I like it. Also The DLC was top tier Final Fantasy Story telling.

Played XV back when it came out on Steam and replayed it early this year and still enjoyed it. One thing that has always annoyed me when people describe XV's combat is "Hold attack button to win". In general, describing any game like that just shows how much effort they put in understanding a game. In XV's case, there's a lot more to the combat that almost everyone overlooks. Directional attacks, attack properties, weapon properties, weapon switching, a pretty wide variety of movesets depending on the weapon, and airstep combos which changed how I look at XV's combat completely and has made fighting monsters 20+ levels above me much easier to fight against. Not to mention being able to lock on to enemy appendages which you can sometimes destroy, preventing the enemy from using specific attacks tied to the appendages similar to games like Monster Hunter or Xenoblade Chronicles X. Even playing as Gladio, Ignis, and Prompto (Ardyn as well), it was pretty fun playing as them during combat where Gladio's gameplay focuses on perfect parries rewarding powerful attacks, Ignis' gameplay being somewhat similar to Noctis with a more elemental weakness approach, and Prompto's gameplay focusing on wearing down the enemy till the opportune moment to deal major damage with a satisfying crackshot. Unfortunately, a lot of people perceive the combat as "simple" due to how little the depth of combat is explained to the player.
