I now have a capsule wardrobe in the 3 colours that look good on me, and never have to do a big closet declutter anymore 😊

Hi Rebecca! Glad to see you & Gypsy back to sharing your sustainable and minimalist insights:) As a sustainably minded minimalist myself, I appreciate your intentions on the clothing front. You make an important point about the "binge" and "purge" mentality. It's so disheartening to know only 9% of what we donate goes on to be resold/reworn. Luckily, I was able to make it through the summer without buying anything new. Suprized myself by easily making due with the minimal wardrobe I have. There were items that I envisioned that I would use but didn't find just the right quality pieces made out of the organic natural fibers that I prefer and which align with my values. Doing my best to not buy synthetic/plastic/petroleum clothing that won't shed plastic particles in our water. Trying also to steer away from lycra/spandex clothing which they unfortunately also mix with Organic cotton. The blending of these fibers doesn't lend to their ability to be recycled or integrated naturally back into the earth. Recently I was excited to find some organic cotton yoga clothing sans lycra that I love. Unfortunately, they still have an elastic waistband instead of drawstring. Just put a request in for the company to produce the line with undyed and/or plant dyed options. I think I may end up trying to source some organic undyed natural fabrics and brush up on my sewing skills and play with creating natural dyes.

Nice to see you with gypsy back for a new season. I liked this video, as I think people not filling the donation centres with excessive amounts of clothing just bought on a whim or as a last minute thing for ‘something quick to wear’ is a great thing. So I am glad you are making people aware of how small a percentage of clothing is actually resold and reworn a second time. So many donations simply get thrown into landfill. I am aware some does get recycled, but that is also a very small percentage (slightly more than resale I think) because the synthetic fibres such as nylon, elastane and plastics often prevent this from happening. Also if landfills become over full in some countries, it get sent to poorer countries and ends up littering their environment or being burned, thus creating pollution either way. Plus, crates of clothing cargo often falls from over packed vessels and ends up polluting our oceans too.

I love your ideals and being very intentional with your purchases, etc. Personally this is exactly how I’d like to live my life, especially as I’m older now and have been suffering with a chronic illness for decades. Getting older isn’t helping how I physically feel as well as my emotional health. My husband and grown son don’t see things the same but that’s for another day.😖 I’m currently trying to declutter my wardrobe and as much of my house that I have control over or physically can handle. I love these types of videos for the motivation they give me. I may not be the speediest but I look at it one day at a time as long as I’m making progress. Just subscribed.🥰

Ahhh!! So happy you’re back!! I have a large declutter planned for this weekend! This was the final push/encouragement I needed ❤ I also need help with my personal style. So excited for this series of videos!!
  • Side note, has anyone ever mentioned you resemble Jodie Foster? 😊 Enjoying today's video!

Missed you this summer! Please keep doing your minimalism videos. You are very inspiring!

Ive been thinking about a major challenge we all encounter with staying minimal and sustainable which is.... following trends. Like the constant flip flop of style changes like jeans are now wide leg, not skinny so the thrift has HEAPS of skinny. Such an environmental disaster. But do we just stick with looking outdated for the sake of the environment? I'm with you- I try to buy second hand too!! Love ThredUp.

I’ve recently been feeling the same way with my clothing purchases and am also trying to realign my consumption and my values. Thanks for sharing this video and for all of the explanations around your clothing! It’s nice to see you back here! 😊

Great to see you back, and definitely interested to follow along! And a recommendation: Hannah Louise Poston has a great video on the math of personal style called "How to match your wardrobe to your lifestyle".

Gosh I’m glad you’re back. I hope you had a nice summer! 🌸

Welcome back! It's good to see you. In addition to Alyssa, Audrey Coyne is another good YouTuber to watch for sustainable, vintage style.

This is such a poignant video! I had an outdoor wedding to attend and completely spun out of control! My age, unhappiness with recent weight gain, the setting (outdoor, grass, bugs, etc.) ALL lead to a frazzled mess. I couldn't define my "style". How I wanted to be seen in the world - and was miserable. Spent good money on STUPID purchases because I was so lost. If nothing else, this video makes me feel less isolated in this issue. Thanks for your videos! Love from Alaska

I'd love to hear more about your journey finding your style! I've wasted so much time and money over the last few years trying to figure out my own style that it would be helpful getting another perspective.
  • @elizabethmay1946
Nice to see you again! I definitely would like to see your personal style journey. Also, I really like the idea of holding onto you clothes in the tub for a year, that way you get to experience it through all of the seasons.
  • @kellyquinn1468
Hellloooooooo, so good to see you back! Looking forward to seeing you more! 💜
  • @jemma50
