Megamind Rules! Episode 3 Discussion: Roach Hard: With a Vengeance

Yes! I love the way they approached Megamind's phobia in this episode! The message of the episode was never that he needed to "get over it" or that HE was the problem. But Keiko and Minion just accepted that this was a limitation for him and they worked around it. (Keiko did at one point comment that he needs to "suck it up", but it felt more like it came from a place of frustration/desperation, and wasn't seriously considered by any of the characters.) And also, even after he flicked Roachelle from the lever, he's not magically "cured". They don't give him a line like "I don't know what I was so scared of!" like he's "conquered his fear", and they even pointedly show him cringing and flicking his hand around and obviously still disturbed. I love that it doesn't set unrealistic expectations around phobias or limitations!

Great video!! I think the 227 in Polly's name also refers to the brainbot whose porta-prison kept breaking in the moving. Their name was Brainbot 227! So it looks like Megs repurposed that brainbot into a role that suited them better, which is WONDERFUL!!!
