Texas has seen a boom in its growth in recent years. In 2022, it became the second state in the country to pass 30 million in population, with only California having a greater population. In fact, between 2000 and 2022, 11 of Texas’s 254 counties more than doubled, the entire state gained over 9 million people, and in 2022 alone the population increased by over 470,000!

Yet, despite cities like Austin, San Antonio, and El Paso seeing tremendous amounts of growth, there are some places in Texas that, well, simply aren’t that desirable to live in. Today on Across the Globe we’re going to be looking at the top 10 worst places to live in Texas.

  • Prairie View is not the home of A&M, but it is the home of Prairie View A&M. Not even close to the same thing.
  • I lost it when he said arlington has nothing to do. Thats where all the pro sports teams and venues and six flags are located. They have so much entertainment to offer that The city's official slogan used to be 'fun central'! 🤣
  • I am honestly shocked that Killeen is not on this list. I lived on Fort Hood for five years and actively tried to avoid doing anything in Killeen.
  • Just a FYI Dallas and Fort Worth are two separate cities, if you do the research Arlington and Grand Prairie both are in between the two cities so please stop combining the two , thank you
  • Good thing about Del Río Texas heat is to don’t have to worry about someone in your back seat waiting to kill you
  • I moved to McAllen a year and half ago and I love it! The scenery is beautiful, has gorgeous neighborhoods, and pretty places to walk around when the temperature cools down at the end of the day. There’s lots of stores to shop at and so many delicious restaurants! The culture is very Tex Mex and so friendly. McAllen is awesome!!!

Born and raised in Brownsville, TX I think it’s the most affordable place to live in and we do have a piece of paradise like South Padre Island.
  • I lived in Lubbock 4 years, it is nice city, don’t listen to this about Lubbock.
  • I have lived in Texas my entire life, so far. If you're thinking of moving here, STAY HOME! WE'RE FULL!
  • @holzmann-
Still better than New York and California‘s best towns.
  • You’ve OBVIOUSLY never been to Texas. Dallas and Fort Worth…. 2 different cities. Prairie View… not the same as College Station. 👋

I live in the RGV, which had three spots on this list. It’s not all that bad here. Sure most cities in the valley and in Texas are better than some, but it’s not as bad as listed here. Most of the people in valley are happy and that’s what matters.

You mention Hidalgo, their is a city and a county. You lumped them together and that makes little sense. You mention Monto Alto, which is not even next to Hidalgo. Work on your facts. Focusing on the city and then lumping in the county and talking about another school district is just sloppy.

How in the hell is Dallas-Fort worth on this list and not Austin. Austin is a more expensive city to live in than DFW.
  • So just pick 10 random places in Texas and label them as the "worst towns to live in Texas" while slapping together 1 or 2 random statistics unrelated to any of the other statistics shown with other cities.... got it.... Also, having "Dallas - Fort Worth" as a city while having Arlington as a separate city when it's right in between the other 2 is kind of weird. The video's clearly more about clickbait than providing knowledge. lol
  • Over half of these cities are border towns. Can’t imagine why it would suck to live there
  • Amarillo and Houston failing to be included in the top 10 makes this assessment suspect.
  • @Tsuneko..
I’ve lived in McAllen my whole life. I love it here. It’s very affordable to live here unlike other places including Austin.
