NeXT was in a weird space at this point IMHO in 95/ 96, as Steve Jobs basically kissing the ass of Microsoft showing NeXT Openstep developer tools , ain't gonna lie is painful to watch as NeXT ported the developer Tools over to Microsoft and buried NeXTSTEP / Openstep .

The sound quality is not the greatest as it has a consistent buzz, I think this was caused by the initial recording of the event not have the microphone or equipment properly grounded and the 30 year old tape that sat dormant for a reason . sleep videos are a thing now ha and this works for me and hopefully you also lots of geek software short lived wilderness product from the past.

Thank goodness for the Apple NeXT Merger in December of 96 than continuing this horror show NeXT and Microsoft IMHO.

This Tech Yawner good to fall asleep by, as entertaining as watching paint dry, yet still some cool NeXT innovations but you can tell Steve definitely did not want to be in the Microsoft space ,

Also it is obviously more difficult to demonstrate how NeXT software makes a difference on Windows to the average person , this isn't Tik Tok dance routines lol but for retro Geek developers it is video gold enjoy.

survival perhaps. My perspective was unique as I was literally the last salesman on earth still selling the NeXT Openstep operating system for them , even NeXT had moved onto webobjects.
Seriously this was me ranting about it :

He sounds so sad. I wish I could go back in time to tell him, "Don't worry, man — you have no idea how well things are about to go"

I think the original sound recording quality was poor and hence the buzz. i noticed it in another one of the tapes and these we're in a collection of tapes I received from the Gary Bradfield estate. Gary a cool dude , customer and musician was the lead guitarist for Cyber Punk. Gary was the production guy for Steve for many years at keynotes and a lot of these tapes we're never released to my knowledge probably do to sound quality issues etc. but still now they are preserved and we may be able to clean them up with dolby but I doubt this one is going viral anytime soon.

Thanks for this! I think it's so cool to see all these Steve Jobs presentations from his 'Next' era and how his talents apply.

thanks for sharing some pieces from the past of a great man!
  • Thanks for this video. It’s fascinating. I would suggest to get rid of that buzzing and hissing sound. There is very simple voice isolation and hum removal functionality as part of Final Cut Pro X. It’s super easy to clean this up.
