The hall of fame is important for every sport and card collecting, but in baseball cards it is even more important! In this part 1 of 2 video the Spitballin team discuss every active player we believe will make the hall of fame and break down whose cards are undervalued and over valued

  • “I was talking to my wife about this despite her begging me to stop talking about it” 😅Chris is comedy gold. Great episode fellas! Looking forward to sequel to this…
  • When y’all were talking about Judge and his cards at high prices it really resonated when you asked “is he a buy?”. I think that would be a really great idea for a video that I think people such as myself might enjoy. Discussing some of the top players and whether their corresponding cards and their prices are a buy/sell/hold. I know that’s super investment focused but it would be beneficial and interesting for us to hear. Just an idea! Absolutely phenomenal show as always!
  • Stanton is an interesting case too because he'll likely get to 500 HRs which is supposed to get you into the Hall. Cards aren't that valued though, even as a Yankee. Maybe a Palmeiro or Man Ram case?
  • Andrew McCutchen is one of 12 players in MLB history to record 2,000+ hits, 400+ doubles, 50+ triples, 300+ home runs and 200+ stolen bases.
  • Andrew McCutchen 49.1 WAR, 2123 Hits (and counting), 312 HR's, 1226 Runs, 1073 RBI's, 219 Stolen Bases, 5X All-Star, 1 NL MVP.....can't believe nobody even mentioned him.
  • Great vid, guys! Love this kind of dialogue. Pairs really well with morning coffee. ❤
  • More modern hall of famers won't hold value like vintage hall of farmers in my opinion, way too many cards available of these guys, you literally have to be a GOAT for an uptick in value.
  • Guys! I bought that bat down on eBay last week! I got it for $456 in PSA 10. I was shocked. I bid up to $550. I’ll be posting it on IG sometime in August!
  • Yeah stand your ground Scott don’t let anyone change your mind about Goldy! 🗣️
  • Enjoyable video! No major arguments from me. I think Goldschmidt is on the bubble, but probably gets in on a later ballot. As a Reds fan I'm looking forward to more Votto discussion. 7 time OBP leader, 2 time OPS leader, 1 time MVP with a few other top-10's and ~ 65 WAR. A lot more black ink in his stats than Goldschmidt, and I'm not sure Goldschmidt reaches his WAR. Makes for a good debate.
  • Cole and Sale would be interesting. With Scherzer and Verlander pushing their age as far as they can, both Cole and Sale have a great chance at 3000 K’s if they can stay healthy and use the same approach (the pitch until you die approach for lack of a better term.) Also, Chris I spent a lot of late nights in college avoiding studying and writing papers thanks to sporcle! Glad you brought it up, very fun website.
  • Chris would be proud of me. I picked up a PSA 9 2011 Topps Chrome Freeman Refractor auto at The National. Thought it was a great deal, especially when compared with the the current prices of Topps Chrome rookie autos.
  • Thanks for all the Goldschmidt talk I need for the rest of my life unless he gets at least 10-15 more war.
  • @Mr.SalmaHayek
💯 percent agree on the Soto take, until he finds a home his card value will be on hold. If he stays with the Yankees and they do good and he does good, his cards will be in high demand.
  • I have a shit ton of Mike Mussina cards I picked up as a kid that didn't move up in value like my dad told me they would when he made the Hall of Fame. That does not appear to be stopping me from growing my collection.
  • I think long term value stability is the biggest thing the HOF does for the Mid/Lower end HOF'ers. They are less likely to be forgotten by collectors years down the road.
  • @gcheath19
Great video gents. Love these HOF prediction vids. Random aside that still feels relevant to the convo - I recently picked up a 2011 Bowman Chrome Auto Goldy Refractor /500 BGS 9.5 true gem+ for less money than someone spent that same day on a 2024 TC Jackson Merrill Blue Refractor Auto /150 that was raw. I think people are wasting a lot of money out there.
  • If Kershaw, Verlander and Scherzer retired today they are all first ballot, no doubt HOFs. If Trout, Harper, Ohtani, Judge or Betts retired today there would be lots of questions and debate about whether or not they had a HOF career but I think eventually they'd all get in. If Goldschmidt, Freeman or Machado retired today I'd say they were great players but not HOFs. Anyways I collect all of their cards right now for the hobby. I don't have much prior to 2012 tho bc I stupidly sold my original collection and restarted a few yrs later. I miss those cards. 😢
