The president of PSA did a interview and said there no guidelines and consistently because the grade you get depends on who is grading it. So you could get a 5 on a card, crack it, send it in again and get a 7, depending on the individual grader who grades it. For me when the president of PSA says that, I would not send any cards to them.
  • I applaud you. I haven't sent anything to PSA in years. Their consistency is nonexistent. Their standards are constantly shifting mumbo-jumbo. They screw small senders like us so they can appear strict while handing out top grades to the biggest spenders.

imagine going to have your car inspected and the inspector says your car is in top notch condition and since your car is in top notch condition we have to charge you 10 times the original fee.

Also, PSA has been pop controlling vintage cards so don’t hold your breath on high grades for vintage if your an average submitter. A vintage 8 today would be a 10 years ago. Try sending your vintage to SGC.
  • PSA is brutal on vintage. Their graders are trained on modern cards

Back around 2000 I came to the conclusion, that PSA was an "insiders game" for 'card doctors' and major dealers. Nothing has changed exceps that now it's all 'on steroids'!

same thing with me. they damaged a 73 nolan ryan or swapped it...i got a 2...why would i send in a card like that? they messed up the corner.
  • @CleanCheapShots
I feel your pain. I suspected that they damaged 2 cards. The first time I missed the deadline to return it. The last one I sent back, they have been holding it for determination since March.

WOW thank you for stating your experience with PSA I will use your gained knowledge and apply it to gain a better result when I send my cards in for grading I appreciate your contribution to the hobby 👍😃

PSA damaged my 1968 Topps Jim Palmer card. It was a solid 8, but they creased it and gave it a 5. I believe I figured out how they are damaging and creasing so many cards. The card savers are part of the problem. They are too flimsy and bend easily. If you have a grader that squeezes the card saver at the top with their thumb on one side and their index finger on the other side it is very easy to accidentally bend the card saver. As A result, this puts a crease usually down the middle of the card in a vertical direction. Depending on how hard they squeezed to get the card saver to open far enough to take the card out will also determine how long the crease will go down the card. I really believe that’s how the creasing is happening. Try it for yourself and just take a empty card saver and squeeze or pinch the sides hard enough and the card saver will collapse either inward or outward depending on your directional pressure. I won’t ever send another card to PSA for grading. More people need to boycott PSA whenever something like this occurs to them. Until then, nothing will change and more cards will continue to get damaged.

Man I feel your pain. Had an absolute nightmare PSA return recently myself. Couple weeks later I got another return that was way better but the inconsistency that seems to be coming out of PSA is absolutely infuriating.
  • @timswauger8381
I am done with them also. Grading is too inconsistent. The same card might get a 6 today and an 8 tomorrow. Furthermore, they give the highest grades to their favorite customers.
  • @jeffguybersen
Their inconsistency is why the other grading companies have been able to succeed.
  • @fartgod6983
Honestly started using SGC and haven’t regretted it.
  • I can proudly say , never have , never will … PSA is a J-O-KE
  • @jasonwolfe9892
There’s a newer grading company that uses AI. The resale value wouldn’t be near PSA or SGC but may be worth a try. Especially for the PC. And you get a very in-depth reason for the grade the card is given.
  • @KSHE1967
PSA miss graded some of my cards so I broke them back out & sold them raw for better than the PSA grade would have sold for.
  • Damn that's crazy on the damage. I always buy my vintage already graded. I have sent atleast 2,000 Modern Mike Trout cards to PSA for registry and never had an issue. Sorry to hear about your issues. Good Luck out there.
