Upgrades to my Giant TCR and Von's S-Works Tarmac. This time we switch up to a larger version of the K-Edge mounts that allow for larger head units such as the Garmin Edge 1030 and Wahoo Elemnt (with a puck swap). Please click that SUBSCRIBE button to support this YouTube channel: goo.gl/QS5YZg

i have one of these mounts too. The initial camera mounting was tight, but its perfect now. no issues getting it in or out.

Just been thinking about getting one of these. Knew The Lama would have a review!

Hi Shane - just bought K-Edge XL combo mount after viewing this video. Absolutely rock solid as you said. Didn't have any trouble mounting a Fly12 under the 1030. Oh and I'm with you, tilted up just a tad for visibility.... watts be damned. Cheers.

That wrench you used to try and spread the legs of the GoPro mount, wrapped with some fine sandpaper and a little back and forth would have done the trick!

I just received to pieces to convert my mount for the GoPro style underneath mount. I am doing it mainly for a slick headlight install but a camera can go there too. Thanks for a well timed video and the heads up on potential problems. Thank you!
  • I have the red anodized K-Edge XL on my Ridley and absolutely love it. Your video helped me tremendously trying to find a well made out front mount for my Garmin Edge Explore with some room to spare. Thank you……Rob K

I love the formfactor of the session. I wish someone could make something like that with 2 hours / 90 mins battery life
  • I'm using the Rotor mount. It's light (33g + 14g for the GoPro adapter), looks nice, no problems using the GoPro mount out of the box and, most importantly, it's way way way cheaper. I paid 34 euros for mine. Oh, and it also fits the Edge 1000!

Such modifications shouldn’t be necessary especially at the premium price k-edge charges! Bought the small combo mount quite a long time ago to use my PowerPod and converted with the Wahoo insert to my Bolt.

Disconnect the Di2 cable on the front and route it around the head tube on the left side, small piece of electrical tape fixes it to the hydraulic brake line. Not a lot, but looks a little bit neater

i've chalked up the tightness of the bottom mount, up to manufacturing tolerances. I have two of them, because I couldn't be hassled with taking it on and off to switch bikes, and they fit the lights that I fit underneath a bit differently. one is tighter than the other by a fair bit. but otherwise, its a great product. (it better be, considering how much they cost... but slightly better cost on ebay if you don't mind waiting for a deal). and as you mentioned, the k-edge mount will eventually wear out the plastic fins on your accessory unfortunately. I suggest taping around the surfaces too to avoid road grit from getting in and accelerating the wearing.

we are like twins Lama, I have been running the XL mount for years now based on running a 810 with my gopro. Now most often just a 520 with gopro but thinking about changing to a wahoo.
  • The reason I don't use K-edge! I believe you always say, " it should just work out of the box."
  • @OutdoorsJustin
I have a couple k-Edge mounts.  I really like them.  My bike computer has never popped out, even on the mountain bike.

I have been using the Pro XL mount for a couple of months now but I did not have the problem of the tight camera mount.
  • @MrJonnyb120
Funny, I just put that on my bike last weekend!
  • @VonMicich
Hehehhe that ending still cracks me up!
  • @YakovD71
You can use a double side quarter turn adapter to mount Wahoo on Garmin mount (no need to open the screws).
  • @UpAndDown480
You’re leaving watts on the table not mounting it dead flat. Ray had a video on it at the win tunnel
  • @LocutFilms
I also mount my Serfas elume light using the GoPro adapter for a nice clean light mount. I am not a fan of mounting things on my cockpit unevenly
