I've had to bail out of the drivers position of a burning APC (we had a TOW missile motor ignite in our ITV) and the hatch jammed in the open protected position, leaving me about a 16" high gap to get through (which I did). Let me tell you, if your vehicle is on fire you are VERY motivated to find a way out.

I was a Bradley Platoon Leader. Everyone used to make fun of my short stature.. but it honestly made mechanized life pretty easy. If anything, I felt quite bad for the poor, tall fellows who had the misfortune of doing gymnastics inside the turret just to get by haha.
