  • I Wonder what will happen when the population learns how these lives were literally thrown away,
  • I am Russian. I defected Russia when I received draft letter to fight in Ukraine 2 years ago. I was terrified and devastated,my whole life flashed before my eyes. Now I face 12 years for treason, and was placed at government's terrorist list along with ISIS and Al Qaeda. I worked as software engineer in insurance company. I applied for asylum in Canada. Now I work as Data Analyst. Majority of Russians hate Putin and aren't very supportive of war. All my friends and relatives who still in Russia hate Putin, and people who work at draft centers also have mental breakdowns since they dont want to send people to meatgrinder and be responsible for someone else's death. Nobody buying Putin's propaganda in Russia. War only supported by elders and people who work for government. Even war correspondents who used to be staunch Putin's supporters and put a lot of efforts to advertise this war and make it appealing to young generation now starting expose truth about war: amount of russian loses, inproficiency of russian officers, senselessness of war, dire consiquence for Russia and telling to young men not to come to fight in Ukraine. If putin will die this war will end right away, since nobody in russia interested at fighting with Ukraine and hating the west.

I very much appreciate the comments of Hamish. Yet.... he still compares a regular army with a public army. However, there is no time for training soldiers 2 years for using an F16 or a Leopard 2. That is the difference between war and a peace time military. That is an important element missing in judgement of current situation, but also the development of military technology.

Russian Economy Devastated. Elvira Nabiullina, the person brought in by Putin to prop up the Russian economy to try to make it appear successful has announced the exhaustion of the last reserves of the Russian economy. The reserves of labor force and production capacity in the economy are "practically exhausted," the head of the Russian Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina said at a press conference. Now the economy is in a state of "overheating", the scale of which has become a record for at least the last 16 years. True, russian GDP is increasing by 5%, but only thanks state funded increase in arms production, while inflation is accelerating. At the same time, business has practically no opportunities to increase the production of goods and services. The shortage of personnel and production capacity "may lead to a situation where economic growth rates will slow down, despite all attempts to stimulate demand," the head of the Central Bank warned. "In fact, this is a stagflation scenario, and it will only be possible to stop it at the cost of a deep recession."

  • Imagine what Isreal would have alredy done to Russia, and the world can only hope when putin finally realizes he is in trouble, that he doesn't set off nukes

It is not population / manpower that will run out — there are plenty of poor foreigners that can be lured or 'donated' buy poor allies of russia, but their military hardware, logistics and infrastructure that cannot sustain this war.

All over in 3 days, all going to plan. I'm sure the Russians are happy with the Russian made mobile phones and cars and looking forward to holidays in North Korea and Iran, forever.
  • @mr.mayhem7402
TR has been saying this, ever since the conflict started.

As a commander, having the F-16 in the air-space is a massive boost. Just knowing that they have eyes on targets is such a moralizing factor. Ground troops will feel so much move willing to press on. It is a game changer, because it is the best they have got! Russia will soon find out!

The U.S. population in 1938 was 131 million, approximately the same as the Russian Federation today. We lost 407,000 military to all causes.
  • @bgregg55
Putin is now offering mothers two 10lb bags of potatoes for every child they turn over to the war department.
