Working for the Royal family may sound like a dream job to some. Getting to live and eat at the palace for free and being in close proximity to the royal family, sounds like a good time. And it is, considering Buckingham Palace has all the necessities of a small town, like a post office, doctor’s office, and movie theatre. But for the staff that work and live on the grounds, there are certain jobs and rules they may not have expected during the interview stage. The Queen is particular about her food, like banning garlic from dishes served at the palace, but she’s also particular about her beloved corgis and dorgis. Her pets have their own chefs and butlers, catering to their every need. But of course, the dogs aren’t the only one receiving royal treatment. Staff is in charge of waiting on Prince Charles’s every need, down to squeezing his toothpaste onto his toothbrush. Though some of these jobs may seem simple, everything in palace is precise, down to the position of teacups on tea trays. Even the carrot length for the royal horses is an exact science. So, before you start sending in your application to work for the royal family, check out these rules and protocols all staff is required to follow during their employment. Even though some jobs may seem ridiculous and unusual, the perk of working for the royal family is enough for their staff. Would you be okay doing some of these jobs if it meant living at the palace? • As someone who has worked for famous and very rich people the royal family requirements are really no different than them.
  • I love that the dogs have their own menu. Well fed dogs! Then again, my cat gets the same food, but not as often! 😂
  • I agree with number 2. We apply the same rule. No Dyson/noise before 10 am. 🤣 I thought my dog had a princess life... Now we understand why our King got frustrated with the pen. The Queen 👑 was a powerful admired and respected person.
  • The queen talking about reading a speech in the beginning is due to the fact that the crown was so heavy when she had to give one
  • I’m not an early riser. Drives me nuts when my dad vacuumed in the morning on days I’m having a lie in. This would definitely be one of my rules too.
  • R.I.P 🙏❤️🕊,I can't believe Queen Elizabeth is gone 💔😢,the Queen left such a huge legacy behind ❤️👐.All love and support goes out to the Queen's family and friends ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,you will be miss forever Queen Elizabeth, and will always be in ours hearts forever 🙏❤️🕊.
  • My uncle was offered a job at Buckingham palace. It was bookeeping and would have meant he would have to live in. He turned it down as he would have been too far away from his family. The residential school my disabled son used to be in the staff were allowed to bring they're well behaved dog's into work. The children loved taking them for a walk. My son used to have a fear of dog's. But being around them helped him be less fearful. Though he still won't stroke a dog he at least will walk past one that's on a lead. As long as they're not running up expecting attention or barking then he's ok.
  • A footman/valet, wrote about the toothpaste incident. His valet would put things out for him, since Charles’ day would usually be packed full. So he would get his toothbrush ready. One morning he put the toothbrush on the wrong side of the sink. Charles then wrote a memo, teasing him about it. Later on, I read about it in another book, where the author used the incident to imply Charles wrote an “angry” memo to his valet. But others have said also, that the Royals suitcases and luggage are packed by the valets. The royals have no idea how to pack a suitcase.
  • I can just imagine Steve Urkle getting a job in Buckingham palace and the carnage he would cause
  • Queen Elizabeth lived and aged gracefully now her time has ended she will forever be missed may god bless 🙏

Lovely to see HM Elizabeth II’s offical New Zealand portrait at the top of this show. A picture we are very familiar with in Aotearoa.
  • With a movie theatre, a doctor's office, etc., You have to wonder if there is a vet at the palace.
  • @harlcc261
I think the Queen's cup of Joe is a cup of tea !!

  • I was fortunate to work in the Royal Household in the 1980's. Hardest job I've ever done (kitchen porter) but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. RIP my beloved Queen 😢🇬🇧
  • Yes please. I would consider it quite an honor to serve the Monarch . But since I am an American there’s no chance of me doing that in the near future😂. I miss seeing & hearing HMQEII & PP so very much. I miss seeing her beautiful smile, bright eyes, colorful ensembles with delightful hats. She meant so much to so many because of her dedication, compassion and commitment to serve the British people and Commonwealth. ❤️RIP Your Majesties🙏🏼❤️
  • Well some of the rules that seem odd to us have been put into place over the years to remedy some kind of issue or problem. We may never know exactly “why” the Royal Family insists on certain things being done as they are! 🤷🏼‍♀️. I bet the Queen (or someone) has gotten their fingers bit feeding carrots to the horses and in order to avoid that happening again it was just so decided that whoever prepared them must be aware of what worked. No big deal, not pompous at all! And most equestrians peel carrots before feeding them to horses because their stomachs can be fickle and easily upset which is deadly for a horse!
  • Love how you used the offical portrait of her Majesty as Queen of New Zealand and wearing her New Zealand honours.
