Why I Don't Play Warhammer 40K...

I got into reading 40k Lore. I love it. I recently bought my first Mini then found your channel. I have yet to play a game.

i started 40k in high school, and enjoyed the game aspect of it, but found the painting daunting, the idea of actually being artistic and showing my friends something i painted was pretty scary. but once i got over the hurdle, it quickly became the main reason i enjoy 40k! i think one of the reasons i love this hobby so much is how multidimensional it is. from painting, to playing to learning the lore. and their are a ton of ways to play, like instead of the wargame, you can do something more cooperative like what i prefer and play the various rpg's in the setting.

I used to be a commission painter a few years back (speedpainter) and I've painted enough armies to field like half a tournament but could never afford my own army to actually ever play 40k or AoS. I'm getting into One Page Rules with my partner, and it's so much more inviting and easy to get into and you don't need a ton of cash (which I have very little of lol!) So I'm excited to actually get into the hobby for myself rather than just to earn food money. But my main love is definitely painting and terrain making (And DMing for DnD, a great way to justify making Terrain, because if I can make it for DnD AND wargaming, it totally makes up for the lack of space my shelf already has lol) as for wargaming, the big full games are too intimidating for me, I'd rather go skirmish or rpg style

My husband isn't into that type of game and I don't want to go down to a hobby store alone to watch strangers play to see if I am into it. I am more of a D&D girl. I know you can watch people play online but to me that is way different. It's like watching baseball on tv compared to being at a game and I want to give it the best chance it has if I am going to play it.

Basically there a 3 versions of 40k with every next one having less players than the previous one. It’s kinda funny but in a depressing way when you get accustomed to everything.

I thought about getting into wargaming, but then I decided to try a less expensive hobby, like cocaine

yes, kind of, enjoy the models they are cool, lore is good enough but actuallly playing lol
