I got suckered. Not my first time, and won't be the last.

Clever signal modulation. Standard AvE carrier wave with topic hopping Truth overlay. Hard to jam, easy to decode. Nice.
  • As a professional nightshifter myself, I can guarantee that it was only a small fuel drip when I found it.
  • The change in enthusiasm and hope when he compares the Amazon part to the OEM. Happens every single time......
  • As others have already posted, that's a Ferguson manufactured for Ferguson by the Standard Motor Company. It uses a Standard Vanguard engine. If you're a vintage British Sportscar Enthusiast, the exhaust note may sound vaguely familiar when you get it running. Triumph TR3 used the same engine. You can take that to mean Ferguson tractors were really fast or Triumph sports cars were really slow...
  • Hello Tractor! At least you can diagnose this tractor with proprietary software
  • The carburetor you ordered was for a ford 9n 2n and 8n but your tractor is a ferguson tea 20 it is the same as an 8n but with an overhead valve engine and some other small changes, the fords had flathead engines. You should just clean the carb the needles dont seat very well and they leak.

That’s a Harry Ferguson TEA-20. Original repair manuals are around on the interwebs. Search the numbers cast into the side of the case under the seat area and you can get the manufacture date etc. Tons of support for these tractors. Looks like yours was already converted to 12 volt.

  • I love our time with Uncle Bumblefuq ❤ His sage like wisdom is music to my ears. If you're not careful you might mess around and learn something. Thanks for the mammories!

As long as the rich dudes gave to the poor children it's a warming story.
  • @MrDocneeson
The story of the rich guys giving to the poor kids is so touching that it makes my heart swell.

I got an old 8N. Painfully loyal machine. It'll run on anything and start in the negatives without much complaint. Cool things with these old things if the parts are everywhere and cheap. Hopefully this ol girl has the same following as the N series. OEM carbs with a soaking are way better than the Chinese copies.

I was part of an organization that needed a tractor. A widow had a Massey to35 her husband left behind. Allegedly he rebuilt the engine and that's as far as he got. And I believe it, loved working on that thing. I Replaced 100% of the wiring, replaced the intake/exhaust manifold that was falling apart(the new cast part took a ton of work with the die grinder to make it useable), sealed the fuel tank and today that tractor is still mowing the acreage it was bought for. I need to get my own old gas Ford or massey to tinker on, but first I need the acreage.
  • Club of Rome reference. I have a feeling this man is very much outside of the matrix.

It is amazing how many things are sold that work great or just need a $20 ($150 Canadian) part to make it work. You have to wonder why they would not spend the $20 ($160 Canadian, rate changed again) to fix it and make it work correctly.
  • My only piece of farmer advice as an actual farmer is to try and add some kind of ROPS unit. In my 30 odd years I know of two deaths in the county community that were rollovers from these classic tractors still being used for everyday work.
  • “He was in great health and he had the biggest heart, in fact, his heart got even bigger and bigger and bigger….”

I ran into the same problem with a 8n tractor. The carb I got from Bezos wasn't even close to fitting. It's better to rebuild.
