An explanation of how a Wilesco D32 works. I also show it running a workshop I built
I am open to any comments/corrections to what I have said during the video as I am as well, learning about this great hobby.
this video is unedited so please bear with me as I explain things
I apologize for the darkness of the video, not sure why it shows up like that as there was plenty of light during filming.
Enjoy!

  • i CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THIS VIDEO . It has answered some many questions I had on it and taken away some of the negative comments about the engine. My D32 is coming Monday and I hope it is all you say it is. We will see for it gets tiring to hear it was better years ago....maybe true years ago cars had real heavy steel bodies ..today not even close! Thanks again
  • Hi, what a awesome video and lovely setup you have. I was fortunate here in my country to purchase a D32 merely 2 days ago. I cant wait for it to arrive. You really did it justice with your video, it is by far the best ive seen. Thanks!

Hiya, great and informative video, just one very small correction, the waste pipe does not travel straight down from front to back it goes at an angle to a hole under the back of the housing and up to the chimney, the pipe you pointed out as being the waste steam pipe going to the chimney is in fact the pipe taking water from the chimney back to the condesate tray. just in case someone is trying to route these two pipes

Excellent background and description of the D32. One of the most thorough I've seen on any engine. Thank you for the time you spent making it.

What a fine presentation of an iconic Wilesco! =)
  • @gwheyduke
That's a heavy duty model engine. Good video.

finally!  I can understand you and you understand mechanical things!  Excellent discussion about the D32.  I'll have some questions for you when my first engine arrives. It's a D20el. that I plan on completely rebuilding.
  • I bought an old d32 for not much money, but its just the engine, I am thinking of building a boiler for it, as well as putting a real governor on it

I just made a bid on ebay for a D22, the D32 is way too pricy for me at the moment. Wonderful machine, though.
