  • My son inlaw is a anesthesiologists. He was home schooled. I'm proud of he and his mother.
  • I raised five kids and homeschooled everyone of them… we did a form of unschooling self taught… I now have two paid firefighters, one cna who works in a nursing home, and one who is finishing up her degree in surgery tech and a stay at home momma who is now homeschooling her two… you are doing a great job momma

I am so glad that as Americans, we can all pick the best school option for our kids. Kids all learn differently. I probably will do box curriculum when my daughter is homeschooled, but i plan to do so much that she wouldn't get in the school system. Your kids are learning and growing. Your kids are blessed. I think unschooling gets a bad rep because of people like Dayna Martin. They had documentaries on her family and they were completely free range.....no school work, no routines, no discipline or any punishments etc....She claimed her kids were unschooling. They seemed very behind academically. I think she popped in my head when you talk about unparenting. You are a great mom and it is clear how much you love your kids.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
  • I feel you Mama! I have homeschooled my thre daughter feom the beginning. I have two highschoolers now and a middle school age daughter. We are interest lead learners. And one of my daughtwrs started reading at 3,one at 7,and one at 9. When they are 25 no one will no the difference! I have felt the same way as you for years. I want to teach the whole person. Live to learn and live to learn I say!

unschooling is so misunderstood, I'm mom of 8 grown children ages 44 to 25 yrs old. 6 of them are college graduates all debt free. One is a creative ma5h and science public school teacher in Florida (who went to collage debt free by travling to other counties doing volunteer work as an exchange student) , one medical assistant in Colorado, one middle management for a medical group in Florida one supervisor for the department of transportation for the state of Georgia, one a successful businesses owner, one working full time in sales and on disabled, but lives independently. All still read for fun, cook, sew, still talk about all tge fun and crazy stuff we did unschooling, like how cooking they learned math, reading science and problem solving, one field trip to wildlife preserve, turned into a whole year of theamed books, foods, learing about mammals, sea life, crafts and so much more. I learned as they did along the way, as our family grew, so did the challenges and rewards. Homeschooling isnt for everyone, unschooling isnt for everyone, yet no matter how much people want to deny it, parents are their children's 1st teacher, and who they continue to learn from life long by example. What do you choose to teach? I chose love, kindness, tolerance, patience, problem solving, critical thinking, honesty, integrity, self-control, confidence, determination, giving, community-oriented, self sufficiency and above all else the love of God.

BRAVO MAMABEAR! I find no fault with your philosophy of educating children. My children and many of my friends children have grown into wonderful successful adults in all ways. Be of good courage! I sincerely hope those who were critical will have listened to your wonderful outlook and manner of sharing that children schooled in "non-traditonal" ways, certainly do grow into very successful, well adjusted and very happy adults. My children chose the fields they wanted to pursue as they entered college, all very well prepared. Two of my children have Master's Degrees, and one has a Doctorate in Medicine. MommaBear, I truly appreciate your heartfelt - and gentle, kind manner - in the way you love, teach, and guide your children - each of them reflect these wonderful lessons you are instilling in them, day by day! ❤🙏🌹Blessings to you and your family, including the precious little one growing under your heart! 🙏
  • Momma Bear you did an awesome job answering that. I am proud of you

You do a great job with your kids & family. The Education system doesn't cater for children that fall outside the 'normal range' so to speak & can be lost at school most days as the teacher can't get to every child. One size does not fit all or apply in Education. When I was a young mother I had my own battle with the ED & had some wins because I bucked the system, I took heat for it & I didn't care as I knew our kids deserved better, 55 yrs later the system still doesn't meet the needs of kids or parents. It seems many people form an opinion from a place of ignorance, that's their problem not yours so leave it with them & keep doing the beautiful job you do with your family. People rarely change thir opinion until it directly affects them, so be joyful you've found your way of being & pray they find theirs. You're so on the right track, so enjoy the ride no matter what people write in the comments, as I feel there's much love for you here, you have a blessed day too!❤️ 🙏
  • The interesting thing about this video is while I don’t agree that anyone should judge you as well as making assumptions that are incorrect. Maybe you shouldn’t make assumptions about those of us that send our children to public school and teach them valuable life skills. To make the assumption that people who send their children to public schools or private schools for that matter, don’t also teach them the skills that we feel appropriate to live their life in unfair.Unfair judgement goes both ways💕 I feel like we all “ indoctrinate”our children in the ways our individual family’s beliefs, I would never tell you that you are “indoctrinating” your children. All 3 of my sons went to public schools and they all have careers they are passionate about including one son that is career military. You are also judging parents that choose to use a homeschooling curriculum. Maybe if you don’t want to feel judged, you should look at your own judgment of others.
  • I generally agree with you. I taught my children and having quite an education I felt lack of the knowledge ( like chemistry which I adore) to teach my children. So then I thought qualified and friendly teacher is a treasure. 😊 Thank you sweet momma for sharing ❤

I am a retired early childhood teacher (23 years) I have a BS & Masters in early childhood. When I graduated from college the trend was whole language (very, very much like unschooling). I was so excited! And. Then. I. Got. A. Real. Teaching. Job. Whole language??? Nope. Test geared curriculum. Test. Test. Test. About halfway thru my public school career (11 years) I was sent to a workshop on a curriculum called Manners of the Heart. I was required to teach manners (parent’s job) and character/morale traits (parent’s job). I got a little bit of a break when I went to private Christian schools. But I was amazed at how little time parents (not all) spent with their children! They would drop them off at 7 am and pick them up at 6 pm (before & after care) then off to football or dance classes. I now homeschool our youngest (middle schooler)and see so much much irony between “structured” education and homeschooling (however you choose to do it). Many schools have gardens that the students may get to spend 2 days a week or so in for less than an hour. But if you use gardening as part of your homeschool? You are questioned. I have found homeschooling to promote a love of reading like no other. In both the public and private schools I taught in students were pressured to read X amount of books so they could TEST on those books. Ugh. And who knows what’s best for your own child? The government or a parent. And on a side note: we have school way more than the required days bc of developing life long learners. Tornado day (I’m in Alabama) - schools are closed? We rock on. If my child is ill - we try to do something that day. And how many days are wasting in test prep and testing??Too many to count. Just know that as a retired educator - who has been on both sides of education - I support you. ❤

My concern would be how to teach 8 kids, cook, clean, can, shop, take care of animals, garden. Doesn't seem like their's enough time.
  • 💯👏👏👏👏👏say it mommabear2many i agree with you ❤😊
  • @PinkPink-kn5gy
I hated school and the whole structure. When I left school I was more engaged in learning and received my first diploma. Yes yes yes I cannot agree with you more when it comes to money. It is all about money. I loved your channel before, now I love love your channel. Have heard some say I have a life and my employer should fit into my schedule. Puppy was on the job protecting you.
