Lieutenant Colonel John Frost led the 2nd Parachute Battalion in the assault during the Battle of Arnhem, a key component of Operation Market Garden in World War II. Parachuting behind enemy lines Frost and his men had the job to secure the crucial Arnhem Bridge. Despite overwhelming odds and fierce German resistance, Frost’s leadership and unwavering determination turned this mission into a legendary stand.

  • "We do not have the facilities to accept your surrender"!
  • @ElcomeSoft
My grandfather told me one thing about his army life... that he parachuted into Arnhem. He told me that when I was 11 and I didn't really know anything about Arnhem until I reached the age of 19 and then did a little reading. No wonder he never spoke about it. Thank you, Yarnhub, for bringing this part of history to life.

Fun fact: That bridge over the Lower Rhine in Arnhem was later named the 'John Frostbrug' (John Frost bridge) In honor of him and his brave men that fought there.
  • Music is absolutely ON POINT on this one...cannot wait to experience this as a movie

I used to think the entire operation was a failure. Then I dug into it and found 60% or so of the Dutch people were liberated. I watched a 70s documentary produced for television about the battle at Overloon that had so much great information from the people that were there. It changed my opinion. It's here on youtube, great stuff. Thanks yarnhub for another great video! *EDIT - thanks for the constructive comments, looks like I need to read more into the country as a whole during the last year of the war compared to focusing on a single operation. Cheers!

Love the animation style, it is top tier. It’s high quality, but not trying to be so realistic it gets stuck in the uncomfortable uncanny valley. The scene of where the Gen. Maj. is walk & talking is a great directing choice, beautiful moment.
  • @jerbs5346
Inaccuracy spotted 10:53 In reality, it was a captured British Sergeant being sent forward to ask Johnny Frost's battalion to surrender.
  • @bigbison6593
The fact the germans held so much respect amazes me, they literally rushed to help evacuate the wounded from the burning building.
  • @Over_Aviation
These animations get better and better!Went from the 2D things to full on nearly movie style!
  • The facial animations are so much better than in last video !!! And omg the graphics are just so good.
  • "My general says there is no point in continuing this fight. He is willing to discuss a surrender"😗 "Tell him to go to hell"😠 "We don't have the proper facilities to take you all prisoner"☹ "What" 🤨 "We'd like to but we can't accept YOUR surrender"😯 😐🤨🤔 "Was there anything else" 😮 🤨 I love it hahahah

What a amazing story. Those British paratroopers were so brave during the Battle of Arnhem. You have to have respect for a outnumbered force to hold out against the SS for that long. Sad how these young men thought they would be in Berlin by Christmas and died with that dream. It would take thousands of British, Soviet, and American lives for Berlin to fall. Another great animated project Yarnhub. Love the scene in the beginning with the C47s and the end scene with the burning city. Thanks for this great work. Yarnhub is one of the great animated history channels on YouTube.

The video is extremely good. It's a sad story though. Thank you for sharing history!
  • @munich_fan

  • @Weird_kid09
Rip to the heros that lost their lives fighting, and I also thank the wonderful team at yarnhub for telling their stories.
  • I had the privilege of meeting Jeoff Roberts in Arnhem last year. He is around 99 years old now. Sadly he was the only veteran at the cermony in Arnhem war cemetery last year
  • @felexl32
the quality keeps just getting better and better netflix should hire this man
  • 13:39 The promised relief were Polish paratroopers from Independent Paratrooper Brigade. Some soldiers were dropped at 18th and 19th of september, main force was scheaduled to be dropped at 20th, but it was postponed one day due to weather. Market Garden was a disaster and Polish general Stanisław Sosabowski was wrongfully blamed for it's failure.
