He’s explaining his environment that made who he is. He’s actually introducing himself. This was his debut album

This album was a game changer for hip hop. It literally set the blueprint for all that was to come after. It aint hard to tell is the best song on the album IMO. You must not have payed attention to the lyrics or didn’t understand some of them. Till this day, nobody is rapping like this. “It ain't hard to tell, I excel, then prevail The mic is contacted, I attract clientele My mic check is life or death, breathin' a sniper's breath I exhale the yellow smoke of Buddha through righteous steps Deep like The Shining, sparkle like a diamond Sneak a Uzi on the island in my army jacket linin' Hit the Earth like a comet invasion! Nas is like the Afrocentric Asian: half-man, half-amazin' 'Cause in my physical I can express through song Delete stress like Motrin, then extend strong I drink Moët with Medusa, give her shotguns in Hell From the spliff that I lift and inhale; it ain't hard to tell” My mans said he gets Medusa stoned! Wild! 🔥🐐

It's not glazed. No rap song at time was like this, all his expressions like man on island, my poetries deep I'll never fail, after dead presidents that represent me, all these were popularized by Nas. His album is actually thy most influential hiphop album and most of the rhyme scheme and crazy intricate bars are also going over your head, like even calling rap poetry wasn't even popularized til Nas invoked it. Ppl like Eminem and Kendrick consider him the best rapper for a reason, to really understand how good it is you'd have to analyze the lyrics a lot more, and most Gen Z mfs just don't fw these beats oddly, not you you seemed to like some of them, I personally like the boombap instrumentals more then modern styles. But nah the albums 10/10 EZ, several times over, as a personal opinion on first glance I don't blame you, but analyzing the bars, looking at this albums influence and shit, it's undeniably the best album in my opinion. That is until the next best revolutionary artist steps foot into the game, but Nas remains one of the best poets in the music game hall of fame fosho.

Boom bap my guy jesus

Better quit playing with q-tip 😂 hes actually pretty influential and part of 'A tribe called quest'. Something to note is Nas was very young when he dropped illmatic and wrote most of it when he was a teenager. Cool you caught similarities in jcole and Kendrick because they are all influenced by nas. You should check out his next album 'It was written' arguably better than illmatic.

damn bro never heard nas before. if you want to check out more you can listen to stillmatic

But yo, aint Q-Tip ..... "in ya ear" {new york accent) lol
