I just completed my biggest project yet! A full N Scale train layout set in the Wild Imaginary West. The project took three weeks and cost around $500 to complete. I'm trying to come up with a name for the town and decide its location in the universe.
I will likely make additions to the layout with new structures, people, mechs, and monsters at some point in the future. I had a lot of fun with this one. Hope you enjoy!

I’m 75, and you took me back to my time as a 12 year old, without your skills and equipment, but still able to build a layout that gave me great pleasure. Thank you. You’re an artist.

I definitely would not be upset if you made these bigger project video's like 20 mins long... I think your loyal fans would also love this, plus you'd profit more too? Keep up the great work Mr Boylei!

At the end with the placement of the Black Acrylic sheet, I couldn't help but think you could have made little cut outs of tunnels like a cutaway and show a miner with a pickaxe and a lantern and then further down have other odds and ends in the strata like dinosaur bones, giant crystal giodes, the odd bit of prescious metals/stones..... an ancient UFO craft 👽....all buried at various levels 😆

this is just gorgeous! theres something about making these little mountains out of foam and plaster by hand that makes me so emotional. there will never be anything else in the world that looks just like this, its really unique. you should be proud!

The Old Hangman's Church used to be on more stable ground, but the rockslide of 46 took out most of the cliff face when the railroad company was building the canyon track. It was, frankly, a miracle that the church stayed aloft. The townsfolk of Hangman's Mesa still haven't forgiven the railroad company for leveling half their town.

As a fan of model railways, I love everything about this build. I'm always impressed by how you manage to balance the Wild West aesthetics with the wackier elements.

“Log 245. Well, this project has been well over a year in the making, but I think we’ve finally got it down. We’ve managed to construct a central railway through Devil’s Canyon, right next to the first permanent town. It goes towards the gold mine in one of the hills, and will hopefully be profitable. I’m saying that, because we’ve lost many good men and equipment to those treacherous cliffs, so I’m really glad the whole things done. But god knows if it will work… Signed Wilson A. Zeke, head contractor for the railroad”

I just came to grab some ideas about painting American west style rock formations, but I stayed for the whole set up. Really awesome and artistic work.

I wouldn't mind if ALL your videos would be at least 15 min long! A huge table with train and all your lil city bits would be awesome btw! Any future plans to bring it all together?

I just saw folks talking about 'playing' with trains vs. 'operating'. You, my friend, proved my point. You can indeed built an amazing layout, with creativity and passion without worrying about yard operations, realistic time tables, and all the other nonsense die-hard folks get themselves into. I can bet you do enjoy playing with your creation and got a lot of relaxing hours building it and now sharing it with friends and family. You don't need a million switches, complex wiring, endless collection of rolling stock, dcc, or anything much to truly enjoy the hobby! Congrats on a great build and a well done video! Thanks for sharing!
  • While I've always found model trains interesting, I had never actually gotten into them. My grandpa, however, had multiple models that he'd pull out when grandkids came over, as well as one he really enjoyed showing off in a small local museum he volunteered at (somewhat small town in Utah). While he was definitely more of a model plane maker, he definitely showed a big appreciation for model trains. This model reminds me somewhat of the model he would show at the museum (which honestly could just be since I haven't seen it in a while and making a connection, but still). While I didn't exactly watch the entire video (I'll watch it most likely tomorrow), it still kind of made me happy to see this. He passed away a little over a year ago, so seeing something that reminds me of him is nice.

Very nice mate 👌. You combined all your skills to make this big project and it turned out fantastic. 👏
  • Man, look at that Boylei hoodie! Templates make repeating parts so much faster than measuring - good call. The precariously balanced church and the ramp/bridge is DOPE! Also, the walkways and buttes are simply amazing. The acrylic sheet to cover the edges of the foam is a real pro touch. This really captures the imagination. Incredible work!!
  • @IgnusFast
I actually really appreciate how much of that project isn't a functional part of the layout, but just enhances/re-enforces the theme. Fantastic!
  • Riding the Durango Silverton every Forth of July are some of my happiest childhood memories, seeing a model set of it was awesome and made me so happy, and this project turned out great!

Full disclosure I was planning on scrubbing through the video but I was fully absorbed. Absolutely fantastic work, dry humor on point, tons of creativity. 👍👍👍👍
