Nigeria: Russian Flags, Putin Chants At Protests Worry Tinubu & Military | Firstpost Africa

Protesters in Nigeria's north were seen waving Russian flags and chanting slogans for Russian President Vladimir Putin as anger against the Bola Tinubu government grows. Russia distanced itself from Nigerian protesters waving Russian flags, saying it is not involved in the protests or coordinating them. Russia's embassy in Nigeria said it does not interfere in the domestic affairs of foreign states. The Nigerian government says it will not tolerate calls for coups or protesters waving foreign flags. Nigeria's military chief also called waving Russian flags a treasonable offence. Watch this video for details.

Am from Kenya... when we were born in Africa. We were taught and exposed to everything that glorifies USA from movies, books but with education and history. We see the things the way they are... that's why we stand with Russia
  • @RamboJamal
Russians flag in the protest is a call for a pan African revolution.
  • @Guled3
It's true that Russia doesn't interfere with domestic politics of other countries.

I'm Nigerian and honestly President Tinubu did not manage this protest well.....he was even given long notice, so it wasn't a spontaneous event that took him by surprise. He had enough time to assuage the concerns of the people but he didn't care. Now the protest has taken a new turn with calls for him to step down and he suddenly woke up? Truth is, Nigerians just wanted him to change some of his harsh economic policies that led to run away inflation which resulted in prices of everything skyrocketing including food which used to be relatively cheap compared to other countries. . Now we want him out bcos we see him as an old, uncaring, wicked leader and we don't want such a person leading our great country.....
  • President Vladimir Putins actions has made Russia popular on the African continent.

Yes we want Russia to push the leadership change button even though they didn’t. We need Nigeria, Ghana and Ivory Coast without the 3 blind men. If they don’t want to get out peacefully then the all wheel gear will be engaged with regret.

Fun fact when you put the Russian 🇷🇺 flag upside down, you will get Nigeria Military flag 🔴 represents Army 🔵 represents Navy ⚪ represents Airforce. Maybe these are calls for Military takeover.

IMF, World Bank these are the real interference in the state of Nigeria. They advised the removal of fuel subsidy and the implementation of poverty policies causing an uprising in the Nation.

This man is not representing the views of the general public right now in the Northern Nigeria as regards the Russian flag
  • The Soviet Union helped Africa's decolonization. It should be expected of everyone that Africans are looking up to Russia to help with neocolonialism. We have seen what the West has tried to do to Russia since the start of the Ukrainian war, and Russia has won in every instance of economic sabotage. Therefore, if we are divorcing the eaters of meat as we salivate (the West), we know they will try to do something and, hence, the need for protection from Russia.
  • After denying Dangote a License to operate a Refinery, all of a sudden the prices just went up... Tinubu is a Dictator among people of Nigeria. Keep Fighting my Nigerian Brothers and Sisters the time has come forth, call for SAHEL to intervene automatically Russia will engage.
