Roman Catholic here. I've become disillusioned with how fractured the church is with beliefs between each archdiosese, the homilies being so watered down into a modern feel good message, many strict traditions that I havent seen since my late teens, not to mention how soft the standards have become for the congregation to follow. I'm becoming more conviced that the Orthodox Church is the best path for me to regain faith and live a more Godly life. Any former catholics here that have converted?

I've met Archbishop Alexander once at my parish. I didn't get to know him much but I was honored to meet him.

His brilliant book Mystagogy was my trusty guide as I worked through reading the works of Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite. A soul enriching journey.

Excellent interview. I heard a quote some years ago from The Book of Steps, but had a very hard time finding much info on it. I'm not sure of it's status in OC circles, but it remained with me and has come up again recently in the new book on the life of Fr. Roman Braga, "Journey to Simplicity" and now in this talk. The quote I encountered: "In the case of the church in heaven, all that is good takes its beginning from there, and from there light has shone out upon us in all directions. After its likeness the church on earth came into being, along with its priests and its altar; and according to the pattern of its ministry the body ministers outwardly, while the heart acts as priest inwardly. ... Our bodies become temples, and our hearts become altars."

I can tell this man is boosted. It shows through his eyes.

I would like to see members of ecclesiastic councils of different denominations and religions meet up to find common ground. They might in this way discover something surprising that they hadn't previously known - or perhaps only quietly suspected.

So what does Archbishop Alexander mean by immersion? I've mostly heard in ROCOR that it has to be triple immersion.
  • Archibishop Alexander claims the Jesus prayer comes from a coptic source in the 8th or 9th century. Would someone be able to elaborate further? The Jesus prayer comes from the Desert fathers of the 3rd and 4th century. St. John Chrysostym wrote about the prayer. Many other ancient saints talk about the prayer. What is his eminence talking about? Is this just ecumenist falsehood?

Couldn’t make it 10 minutes. Way too blackpilled and worried about “the world” for someone who professes to be a believer in Christ.

Isn’t this guy an Origenist who says the heretic Origen who is anathematized in the 5th ecumenical council is actually a saint and the church made a mistake? Or did he go back on this position
